AS MOM RUNS FOR VEEP

Robredo sisters ready to put lives on hold for Leni

They used to be against the idea of sharing their mother with the rest of the nation.

But the daughters of Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo have decided to give her their all-out support in her latest challenge.

The sisters seem ready to put their lives on hold to help their mother campaign as the running mate of Mar Roxas, the presidential bet of the Liberal Party (LP).

"The moment we said yes and the moment we told our Mom we will support her, ready naman kami sa mangyayari na," Robredo's eldest daughter Aika said in an interview aired over GMA's "24 Oras."

"Kaya tingin ko natagalan din, kasi kapag sinabi namin na oo, parang all in na iyon, handa na kami sa anumang ibabato," Aika added.

Aika said it was only on Friday that the sisters decided to go with the plan.

"Noong pinag-usapan namin siya finally noong Friday night, parang doon lumabas na pare-pareho naman iyong desisyon namin na sige go na Ma kung yun ang pakiramdam mong dapat mong gawin," Aika said.

Her sister Tricia, said that she was against her mother seeking a higher position because of the issues that she could face.

But she eventually supported her mother's decision although she still did not completely agree with it.

"Nakita naman namin eventually na buo iyong loob ng Mom ko, and alam naman po namin na kung nabubuhay iyong Dad ko, ang gusto niya naman na gawin namin ay suportahan naman iyong desisyon ng Nanay ko," Tricia said.

Tricia added that a promise from the family's well-wishers had also helped her accept the challenge.

"Basta po kami ngayon, we are comforted by the fact na hindi kami iiwanan naman.... Alam po namin na hindi lang kami nag-iisa dito," Tricia said.

"Nakatulong po sa amin talaga na parang inano din po kami, pinalakas din po iyong loob namin noong mga nagmamahal talaga sa Mom ko," she added.

Both Aika and Tricia are set to join their mother on the campaign trail.

Aika works for the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) but said she was going to resign soon.

Tricia also expressed the same. She said she was ready to take a leave from medical school to help her mother in the coming months.

However, Robredo won't allow her youngest Jillian to tag along because of her young age.

Nonetheless, she has repeatedly thanked her daughters for supporting her decision.

"Nakaka-guilty lang para sa mga anak mo na they will put their lives on hold for something like this," she said. —NB, GMA News
