Senior GOP officials are reportedly forming a plan if Trump drops out
Citing unnamed sources, ABC News reported Wednesday that “senior party officials are so frustrated — and confused — by Donald Trump’s erratic behavior that they are exploring how to replace him on the ballot if he drops out.” Look, Trump is probably not going to drop out. But if he does, Republicans would turn to Rule 9.
51% of Republicans want someone else
There wasn’t much good news for Donald Trump in a Fox News poll released Wednesday night. Not only is he trailing Clinton, 38% to 44% — a 7-point drop since the last Fox News poll in May, but more than half of GOP voters would rather have someone else as their nominee. The percent of people who think is “hot-headed” and “obnoxious” is astounding.
Mitt Romney won’t be voting for Trump or Clinton
At the Aspen Ideas Festival, Mitt Romney reiterated his disinterest in running as a 3rd party candidate this year. Not only that, but he said he won’t even vote for the presumptive nominees — citing his “conscience.” But he did say he might write in someone else.
The most prominent LGBT Republican group won’t endorse Trump
Donald Trump won’t be getting the endorsement of the GOP’s most prominent LGBTQ advocacy group, the Log Cabin Republicans announced on Saturday. The group released a statement saying although Trump is “perhaps the most pro-LGBT presidential nominee in the history of the Republican Party,” they won’t be focused on helping him.
Donald Trump is now going after John McCain and POWs.
Sen. John McCain, who was shot down in Vietnam in 1967 and spent over five years in a POW camp, recently spoke to the media about Donald Trump’s meteoric rise in the polls calling it “very bad” and “very hurtful.” Trump responded with the above comment. His fellow Republicans were not on board.
