Creating New Parks Commissioner Post on Tarrytown Trustees' Agenda

The village board will hold a public hearing on the proposal Monday, Oct. 19.

Tarrytown is considering creating a Commissioner of Parks position to oversee staff and the maintenance of the village’s “parks, recreational ares, related structures and open space.”

If created, the new position would be filled by a mayoral appointment with approval from the Board of Trustees. The exact salary has not yet been announced.

Currently, the village has a public works director and a recreation supervisor, and the new parks commissioner would help coordinate some services, activities and/or projects with both, such as equipment maintenance, plowing, field use and facility or infrastructure repairs.
