SLEX, NLEX vehicle volume expected to be heavy on Sunday, Monday


Moderate to heavy traffic is expected on both South Luzon and North Luzon Expressways from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning as families return to Metro Manila after the holiday season.

According to reports on “Balitanghali” on Sunday, about 280,000 to 300,000 vehicles are expected to pass through SLEX, with Calamba Toll Plaza and the Ayala Toll Plaza among the possible chokepoints.

Counter-flow lanes have been opened along the expressway, and extra toll booths have also been installed, with ambulant tellers on standby.

Motorists are encouraged to pay their toll fess in offsite payment kiosks located at several gasoline stations along the South Luzon Expressway.

Meanwhile, along the North Luzon Expressway, ambulant tellers are on standby in the Balintawak, Mindanao, and Dau toll plazas.

Traffic personnel have also been on extended working hours since December 23 and will remain on extended working hours until Monday, January 4, together with additional enforcers and patrol vehicles.

Three extra lanes have been opened at the 22-lane Bocaue Toll Plaza to minimize vehicle congestion.
