Kicks and Colors: Under Armour introduces Curry 2.5 for NBA playoffs

The Warriors will release a new Stephen Curry 2.5 just in time for the NBA Finals.

Kicks and Colors spotlights the variety of colorways—and the stories that go with—that brands unveil in key basketball sneakers.

Brand: Under Armour

Sneaker: Curry 2.5

Signature athlete: Stephen Curry

Story: Stephen Curry has left behind his Under Armour Curry Two in favor of the Curry 2.5, an update to the star’s second signature sneaker from the Baltimore-based brand. Now that Golden State has its 73 wins in hand and moves toward the playoffs, Under Armour has introduced the Curry 2.5 for the playoffs.

On a technology side, the 2.5 features three zones for support, protection and breathability with a molded synthetic upper, Charged Cushioning underfoot and a traction pattern made for Curry’s movements. Design details include a diamond shape on the upper to symbolize five teammates working together, lines inspired by the Bay Bridge that connects the East Bay to San Francisco and the coordinates of Oracle Arena on the heel. While Curry will continue wearing the 2.5 in games, it will release to the public on May 28.
