First look at the HP Elite x3

PC sales have been declining over the years as workers are more mobile these days. If you are one of them, I am sure you are probably holding on to a smartphone or perhaps two of them, one for office and one for personal use. You would also be carrying a notebook with you to present to your clients.

HP Elite x3 tries to solve all these with a solution, that is to integrate all functionalities into a mobile device which can be docked or paired to a notebook and desktop.

The Windows 10 powered phablet runs on the Snapdragon 820 powered device. As a standalone device, it’s a mobile phone with dual sim, so that solves the issue of carrying multiple phones. As it is a Windows 10 device, you get the Office Word, Excel which is the much needed apps for the mobile workers. For security, the device also comes with an eye retina scanner which could be used for specific customised solutions or just used for unlocking the phone.

This one device for all is suitable for mobile workers as it saves the company of providing a notebook, a handset and a desktop to the employee. The HP Elite x3 is ready for work with business-grade security, HP support, and durability that’s dust and water resistant and designed to pass MIL-STD 810G and IP67 testing.

Effortlessly switch between a handheld phablet and a desktop PC or laptop experience when you dock to a larger display. It can be docked and transformed into a working desktop or notebook. When docked, the Windows 10 Mobile desktop mode will be shown on the external monitor.

In order to run x86 apps, HP has the solution too. HP Workspace lets you run your most frequently-used Windows and corporate applications virtually.

The product will be launched in August and availability should be as early as September 2016. The pricing is not known but it should be comparable to the price of a subnotebook.
