Roach curious to see Pacquiao's form in training

Hall of Fame boxing trainer Freddie Roach can't wait to find out how his prized pupil Manny Pacquiao has recovered from the shoulder injury that the latter agitated in his last fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Roach, who is scheduled to fly to the Philippines in February, says he's yet to see Pacquiao's current form since the shoulder surgery.

"Me and Manny don’t see each other until we start training camp. He plays basketball every day. He says the shoulder feels great through basketball," Roach tells boxingscene.com.

"I know that’s not boxing. I’m curious to see how it is myself in the first week of training."

While Roach admits that he has yet to see Pacquiao throw a single punch since last year, he cites that there's no reason to doubt Pacquiao when he told him that he's fully recovered from the injury.

"He told me he went swimming in the ocean a lot and exercised a lot," said Roach.

"Then he started playing basketball. He says it feels fine. When Manny says it feels fine, I can take his word for it." — APG, GMA News
