Legion - Magni, Eitrigg, and The Ashbringer
We found some interesting conversations with important NPCs about Artifact weapons. One example is a conversation you can have with Magni or Eitrigg about The Ashbringer. Unfortunately there isn't much more than what is below yet. Keep in mind that this is just a reference in an alpha build of Legion, not something final or officially announced.

Take a seat with me for a moment, won't ye?
The Ashbringer is a truly wondrous blade, ain't it? I remember forging it many years ago back in Ironforge - my finest work.
If ye don't mind an old dwarf talkin' yer ear off, I'd like to share a piece of advice with ye that I've carried with me since I was a lad.
We all come from the same earth and stone around us; Alliance and Horde, dwarf and gnome- as a leader, ye've got to see past the differences and unite yer people against the Legion. Azeroth depends on it.
I'll give ye some time alone. Just somethin' to think about in the days ahead.

Eitrigg and The Ashbringer
Throm-Ka, Highlord $p. I see we both value some peace and quiet now and again.
Sit with me if you would - just for a few moments.
Tirion was my brother by blood. We saved one another's lives many moons ago. He was a good man... an honorable man.
He always thought highly of you - from what I hear from others his trust has not been misplaced.
I have watched many lead their people down dark paths. Tirion often spoke of the Light that guided his hand and his people - let it guide you to greatness as well.
I am not one for conversation - much remains to be done. May our paths cross again, $p.

You can transmogrify your artifact into other weapons within the current, existing transmogrification weapon-type rules. (WarcraftDevs)

Ghostcrawler Tweets
Ghostcrawler still occasionally talks about WoW. Remember that he no longer works for or speaks for Blizzard.

Neither skill nor dedication will provide an item that only a few players will own. (OccupyGStreet)
Maybe having a super rare item like that just isn't feasible. (OccupyGStreet)

Why in Cata post mortem you said Legendaries should not be like a reputation grind and Mists had 3 Rep grinds for Legendary?
Different legendaries. Cataclysm model was 1-2 per guild raid. Mists legendaries were for virtually everyone. (OccupyGStreet)
This is relevant to the discussion of rarity we've been having on twitter lately. (OccupyGStreet)
Say as a designer you want 1% of players to have an item for prestige or bragging purposes. (OccupyGStreet)
RNG is about the only tool in your box. along grind doesn't limit number of players, only the rate they acquire them. (OccupyGStreet)
Skill means the world first guilds have them and nobody else. (OccupyGStreet)
Systems to deliver rare rewards in the absence of low RNg-based drop rates are *very* hard to design. (OccupyGStreet)

Will Highlord title be permanent? I am thinking its the same use as "Commander" or "General" in Garrisons.

Would be neat to have class specific titles for people who pursue the Legion Class Halls. Arch Mage, Arch Druid, and such

A long grind, by its nature, does limit the number of players. We saw it even in the census data that MMO-C linked regarding the cloak/ring/etc.

At most, you get 50% of the player population getting the first reward. The drop-off after that is huge.

So I guess my question to him is, "What is your definition of 'everybody,' and what is your definition of 'rare?'"

Just because 50% of the pop got the first reward doesn't mean all 50% desired to get to the end in the first place.

Drop-off has many reasons, most related to not continuing to play (in the grind, or at all).

If those players continued to play, then they are not limited, unless removal occurs (MoP).

I absolutely dislike Blizzards decision to remove the two hardest achievements for the Glory. It was rare/hard for a reason! But no, they need to make it World of Casualcraft. Fire those employee's at Blizzard that are involved in this traitorie please and restore the achievements.

I like how simply they removed the msv achiev, but i doubt i will get back my wasted days/gold/gametime... and the best thing oondasta and galleon still has 1-2 hour spawn time so everyone realm jump 24/7..
must be hard to reduce their spawn time, but removing a little bit hard achievs not a big deal...

This tells you nothing, a lot of players (myself included) only do the quest chain up to the first or second reward on most chars just to get the easy upgrade in the start.

I got the ring on my main, every alt char has either the first or the second one to get the proc.

With the latest patch even less people will have been going for the first one or two since pvp rewards or plain baleful items are just as good and a lot simpler to get.

Yes, hard effort to get those achievements. I absolutely agree with what you are saying.

Theoretically making it time and dedication based doesn't limit it...but in practice? How many players would take the time to earn the Wintersaber mount when it took both 840 quest turn ins and Darnassus rep at exalted?

Any one could complete it if they took the time...few did.
  1. mmoceb1073a651's Avatar
What was the last statistic about the Garrison monuments? Lower percentage of Pet Battle monuments than mythic raiders. This tells you something about grind as a gating instrument. Of course, pet battles are not that important to people as mounts or titles, for example, but anyway.

I would like to have bad luck protection against RNG when handling low % drop rates. Like for example - if you don't get a 1% mount until your 100th try, you will surely get it on try 101.

I wonder how many people have the Saberstalker mount which requires 5000 claws and exalted?

I'm kind of hoping with these achievement changes that they remove the achievement for Staggelm from Glory of the Firelands Raider. Getting five other people to cooperate for that is a nightmare.

Dunno what to think about removing "Show Me Your Moves!" from the meta. It's by far the hardest since the whole group needs to do the dance and it can't be overgeared, which is a good thing. Still, thinking back to when I did it in MoP most of us could perform the dance after 2-5 tries, but this one player failed over and over again. She must have kept us there for an extra 15 tries alone which really soured the experience.

Overall I'm against the change I think.
  1. Soulfighter101's Avatar
I feel like they could've adjusted the mechanics to either be done with one person in the group, or not require a full raid group (for the MoP one). This is a nice fix too, though.

Also, stuff from Magni makes me very happy, as he's sort of been in limbo since pre-cata, with no mentioning as to if he was actually dead or if the spirit thrall found under Eastern Kingdoms was indeed him.
  1. Sorayiel's Avatar
Ofc, they remove the ONE achievement that requires skill, so that every damn stupid casual can get everything. The mount means so much to me, I was really proud to have earned it. It's the same Blackmarket AH t3 bullshit all over again, gj blizz.

I hope Magnis is back... Hearthstone don't lie; he is definitely the most huggable leader.
