Usually we only get this excited about the release of a virtual reality headset or a new Marvel movie, but man, you guys… The People v. O.J. Simpson wrapped last night and it was just remarkable. The performances were stellar, the final scenes were riveting, and even though it was a true story that played out over two decades ago it kept us glued to the screen the whole time.

Podcast

And since it was so compelling, it (obviously) takes up a considerable amount of time on this week’s Monitor podcast. (But really, 30 minutes of convo is the restrained version of how much we could’ve talked about this FX miniseries.) But the Juice isn’t the only thing on our minds this week. Now that Jeff Nichols’ Midnight Special is in wider release we finally feel OK about discussing his subtle sci-fi movie—and his prospects as a blockbuster director.

So settle in. Editors and writers Peter Rubin, Angela Watercutter, and K.M. McFarland are holding court and around here we don’t break for recess.
