Here's some awesome news: The Lego Movie is set to return in 2018 with Rob Schrab (Community and Parks and Recreation) making his feature directorial debut.

The follow-up will be called, imaginatively, The Lego Movie Sequel.

The announcement was made Tuesday evening by Greg Silverman, President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the duo who wrote and directed the original - and kept us amused during awards season while the film was snubbed at the Oscars - are still on board. They're writing the movie and serving as producers alongside returning producers Dan Lin and Roy Lee.

"We are so excited to collaborate with Rob," Miller and Lord said in a joint statement.

"He is a comedy genius, a visual savant, and we have been stalking him for years."

"No one works harder than Rob, and his aesthetic, combined with his sense of humor, bring a strong, unique, thoughtful, and passionately nerdy voice to this project. People who know him are slapping their foreheads today and saying, ‘Of course!’”

Rob Schrab has directed a number of TV comedies, including Community and The Mindy Project, and wrote and directed The Sarah Silverman Program. His awards cabinet includes a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and he's been nominated for a WGA Award and an Annie Award.

The Lego Movie Sequel will be the third Lego-related movie from Warner Bros. in as many years. A ninja-themed spin-off, Ninjago, is set for release in 2016 and a Lego Batman film is due in 2017.
