Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim has accused Arsene Wenger of being disrespectful towards him by not shaking his hand following February's clash at the Emirates.

Portuguese boss Jardim guided Monaco into the last eight of the Champions League with an away goals victory over the Gunners - despite losing 2-0 at home in Tuesday night's second-leg.

The majority of the groundwork was done last month when the Ligue 1 side stunned Arsenal by recording a 3-1 victory in north London.

That result left 65-year-old Wenger furious and, following the conclusion of the match, he trudged down the tunnel without shaking his managerial counterpart's hand.

Following Tuesday's second-leg former Olympiakos boss Jardim revealed his disappointment in Wenger for showing what he deemed to be a lack of respect.

“In the first leg, when I wanted to thank Arsene and shake his hand, it’s true that Arsene didn’t shake my hand, so even though Monaco did everything to make life comfortable for Arsenal tonight, I decided not to thank him,” Jardim said.

“I think it was disrespectful. Right now, we’re celebrating and we think Arsenal did not show enough respect during the first leg.

“Arsenal were really happy to play Monaco as we were supposed to be one of the weakest teams.

"We qualified from pot four. All the teams in the last 16 wanted to play against Monaco. Maybe Arsenal thought they had qualified already.”

Arsenal almost completed a remarkable turnaround to book their place in Friday's quarter-final draw but ultimately fell agonisingly short.

Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey netted to put the Gunners within one goal of qualification but Wenger's side couldn't find the final goal required to end their Champions League last 16 hoodoo.
