A 55-year-old man who allegedly paid Filipino parents to produce child pornography has been charged in California.

A report by KCRA.com, quoting the Eastern District of California US Attorney's Office, said Michael Carey Clemans was indicted on four counts related to conspiracy to produce child pornography.

The report said that Clemans allegedly worked with an unnamed woman to recruit children in the Philippines for pornographic shoots.

It said that according to court records, Clemans began working with the woman in June 2014 and that he paid the children's guardians to get temporary custody of the kids for the shoots.

Citing court documents, the report said that Clemans expressed the desire to "have sex with girls as young as 8 years old."
