Californian watchmaker Nixon is going smart — and super strong! The company today unveiled its new Mission smartwatch powered by Android Wear, with a rugged build made out of stainless steel and polycarbonate that’s made for the outdoors.

Priced at $400, the Mission is a smartwatch for people who need robust gadgets. If you’re into extreme sports, throwing yourself into and out of things, and just being generally reckless, then it’s probably the best smartwatch you can buy.

Packed inside its beefy chassis, there’s Qualcomm’s brand new Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset, and a round AMOLED display protected by Gorilla Glass. The Mission is also customization much like the Moto 360, so buyers can choose their own bezel and strap when ordering.

What’s more, unlike most other smartwatches, which are just “water-resistant” and not really designed to get properly wet, the Mission is waterproof. Its 10-ATM resistance rating means you can take it in water up to 100 meters deep and it’ll keep on ticking.

Nixon hasn’t confirmed the Mission’s complete list of specifications yet, but it has promised long battery life and “smart sensing.” You’ll be able to purchase yours this fall after the wearable makes its official debut at Baselworld, and Nixon promises more smart gadgets are coming.
