When using copyrighted resources
it is your responsibility to
observe the law.
How does copyright affect me?
4. What is protected by copyright?
All library resources are protected by copyright.
For example:
• Books and journals – both hard copy & digital
• DVDs and CDs
• Film, radio, and television programmes
• Electronic study pack readings
5. How to make sure my
copying is legal?
Easy…
… just take note of the
following guidelines.
6. Is your copying legal?
You may make a single print or digital
copy of anything in copyright for:
Non commercial
- Private study or research
- Illustration for instruction or teaching
And for
- Quoting from a work
- Caricature, parody or pastiche
- News reporting, except for photographs
7. Is your copying legal?
The amount you copy must be
‘fair and justifiable’
- You must not reproduce the copy, sell it,
or share it online.
- You must acknowledge the source where
reasonably practical.
8. Remember – copyright compliance
is your responsibility
Always observe the
copying guidelines.
