I don't know if I'm insanely excited, but I have pretty fond memories of watching back in the day. My one concern: do we know if they'll be using the "monster of the week" structure like the original series? I think I've been spoiled by all the subsequent great dramas that have just one story arc per season, or for their whole run. Not sure I want to go back to the old case-a-week formula, even for Scully and Mulder.
I hope they can find a balance. Lots of shows now have, as you mentioned, evolved the monster of the week formula, so that the monster of the week episodes are threaded together by a cohesive narrative. The original X-files was largely monster of the week with a smattering of "Important" episodes that advanced the plot. Hopefully, they can build on the lore from the old series and making something new and better. I was a huge X-files fan back in the day, so I'm really excited but also anxious because it seems pretty rare that the revival of a dead show actually follows through on its promise.
I share your distrust of series reboots. I'll definitely give this one a shot though. Watching the trailer again, I now think they might push the longer narrative style. But now that you mention it, I did like the old episodes when they'd advance the longer narrative significantly using the weekly plot - usually aliens triggering Mulder, if I remember right. I guess we'll find out soon!

Anyone else insanely excited for this (and a little terrified as well)?
Definitely excited! Gives me a good reason to dive back into all seasons and the other two movies :D
