Volvo V90 wagon leaks in die-cast model form

Volvo will launch its new S90 flagship sedan next year, and as part of the company's model expansion plan, a V90 wagon will follow. Fitting, then, that after the S90 leaked out in die-cast form, we now have shots of a similarly sized, 1:43-scale V90.

Car News China broke the story, and if the scale model is truly indicative of the wagon's final design, what we have here is a really slick, large longroof. The new face of Volvo, complete with Thor's Hammer headlights, is clearly evident on this V90. But what's really intriguing is the taillight design – a large, flowing pair of lamps that extend from the middle of the hatch all the way up to the roof. Like the S90, the V90 will be built on Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture platform – just like the XC90 crossover. That means the flagship wagon will likely use the XC90's powertrains, as well, including the twin-charged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and trick T8 twin-engine setup that pairs the 2.0-liter turbocharged/supercharged engine with an electric motor.

This scale model is said to be manufactured in China for French company Norev, according to Car News China. The production V90 will likely launch sometime after the S90, so expect to see it in late 2016.
