The factoids about the secret society is a mixture of both- hence the "augmented reality" nature of the game. :) The Triangle Book of St.Germaine is real
and "The Legacy of the Knights of the Buried Chambers" is most certainly not. I know the article and the LJ page where it is posted are most certainly not real and those people did not and do not exist. They were fabricated for the game-
however this should not detract from the mystery set before us!

The significant part of discovering the LJ was a fake persona named "Walt" was that it lets us take all the posts as potential evidence, with a giant figurative arrow pointing at the pattern in the text.

When you take the bold face words from the LJ from all the articles they tell a story- I'm not certain what yet, but they certainly do.

Also please take note of the font change- someone is claiming they are being poisoned. I'm pretty certain in the actual iOS game people are also being poisoned (all the bottles lying around and stashed away). I'm still working on the bold faced type puzzle- it has to do with every third word, letter, etc.
I'll get back to you guys if I find anything.

    I didn't.
It's the imagery of the knight that is prevalent in the text, the game and now the fake (?) author's name is directly related to a/the Knight. There is no literal representation within that game that I have seen yet. The cane? Kidnapping kids? The Knight? That's all in the game thus far.

It's certainly possible that someone in the 1970's wrote about a secret society- sure. I am certainly not debating the ability of self publishing articles in the 1970's.
In this particular instance [/I - and for me personally- the circumstantial evidence surrounding the original book, the destruction of that book and the LJ account... well, it's definitely a puzzle and I am loving it but I do not believe it is real. Additionally there are inconsistencies in the article on the knights that is a huge red flag. I could go into all this but this post is already too long. /TLDR

The best way was what I already mentioned-
checking the 10 years of 5,000+ comments and looking for hints to the actual identity of the account holder. I have enough that I am satisfied with my answer... but you can always look for yourself! I put links in my previous post. Feel free to investigate to the fullest!

Bravo everyone on all your finds, keep looking! <3

Well if this book really exists that's one way to verify. I am going to try to track it down. What I was trying to say is that I think this specific book (the Ruprecht book) might have been produced on a Selectric typewriter, which is how small press worked in those decades. Or maybe it was made recently but it still looks like the work of a 1970s Selectric typewriter. Sorry I'm kind of a nerd about this stuff, probably because my mother is a librarian. Look at the Ruprecht book up close + compare it to this + this which are documents made on one, + those are both from the earliest version of the Selectric, which came out in the 60s. The whole publication process got more refined quickly after this. Also that second image is printed on rougher paper. So a later model Selectric printed on clean paper could very well produce a page that looks like that.

I was still worried about a wild goose chase so I sent that page to this website that checks metadata, + that says the photograph was taken in 2009. I read up a bit about whether you can edit the metadata about when a photo was taken. IT sounds like that is a hard one to edit, you would need hacker tools and possibly also to decrypt the way the data is stored or something?

Also what did you mean about the destruction of the book? I didn't read anything about that. Do you just mean that the book was misplaced? Hopefully there was more than one copy.

Ah, yes. I meant the destruction/loss of the original letter.

So I've also been looking into this mystery and through the prodigious use of Google in finding the answers to the qoesco website I found this forum. Thanks to Spambot for decoding the document, I was really stuck on the second knight! I haven't even began to look into the Labyrinth page yet.

I do however have some information about the cyphers:

As I'm sure you're already aware there's an achievement called USTAEL obtained by entering the code into the device in the windmill. That achievement has shows two letters, NA. Well I have another achievement called Third Purpose which also shows two letters, KS. If you look at the pictures for these acheivements you can see they're scraps of paper with a diagram on them. It's fairly obvious the diagram is a key symbol.

Once all the paper scraps are assembled you'll be able to see the whole key and more importantly all the letters in the right order. Third Purpose, KS, is definitely the end of the key, so the cypher ends in KS. If I had to guess I'd say USTAEL, NA, is the second part of the key.

I'd estimate there's another two to collect so at the moment the cyper, presuming there's two letters a piece, looks like :
    _ _ NA _ _ KS.

Once we see the whole key we'll know the cypher and whereabouts it'll be applied in the document.

The only issue is I have no idea how to get the missing achievements...

    @castonm - Interesting!
Are you willing to share how you got the Third Purpose achievement?

Well, you're not alone- I've not had any luck either. Still taking a look at it today when I have time. I'll let you guys know if i find anything, of course.

It's not the italics but the change in font specifically that has me interested. Same thing with the qoesco website cached images- the only difference between the two images or website screen grab is the font and date. By investigating the blog, I am proposing that there was something going on with the bold faced words, the font change and possibly a correlation with the date.

My guess is the name of the second knight will be revealed in the game if it hasn't been already. I can't wait to see what people find!

Debating the "realness": If you start finding information from the 90's or earlier from a vaild source (i.e. a legit publication or scientific journal) that's the only way I (personally) would reconsider the 'realness' of the information. Working as an archaeologist and specializing in the 'New World' sector, I've never heard anything -ever- about such a society, their significant temples and finally discovering they had been massively/completely abandoned. That, of course, doesn't mean it's not possible, it's just unlikely- at least for me given my time in the business.

I also want to add that me sharing my experience should never detract from your journey or how amazing the story is and how fantastic it is that they took the time to design an AR component for this awesome game.

... and of course if the devs decide to finally & officially chime in with contrary information I'd be more than happy to eat crow.... or blackbird in this case.

Anyone else notice the victorian wallpaper on the main menu page is composed of tiger illustration components? Nice touch! :)

Really nice progress everyone. It's been fun to come and read everyone's posts!

    Deaths head moth

Anyone had any luck with all the insects. I'm missing only two, the Luna I'm pretty sure will be somewhere at the full moon but can't find the Deaths Head anywhere. I'm assuming it's due to some weather/moon combo I haven't encountered yet. Anyone have any luck?

Again sorry for double posting but-
I believe I have cracked the LJ blog code. I am not 100% certain but there are too many coincidences for me and I would love a second pair of eye on this. Please contact me via pm if you think you can help. Knowledge of Latin or languages would be a plus.

When (or if) I make it further along and this is relevant to the game, I will post what I've found.

Thanks for your time and carry on!

That's fantastic research. Additional note: "NOTAMARGATET" is, basically, tetragrammaton backwards. Tetragrammaton is the 'code' for the true name of Yahweh which has the power to imbue things with life. It is the secret word that Judah Loew ben Bezalel inscribed on the forehead of the Golem to bring it to life. You would write it backwards since writing it forwards is the magic itself and can be considered hubris.

I bet it's the archaic or alchemical word for "diamond." "AURIC" means "of gold." Argent, or some arge-whatever word would mean silver-related. I'm trying to find the diamond word now. Will report back if I crack it.

Sonambulor, are you talking about finding the deaths head moth when you beat the game? I solved all the mysteries except the greater once involving the estate map and the Roman numerals. Haven't seen the moth yet

No haven't found all of them yet. Need a couple more moon phases I guess. is it possible to change the date on the iPhone to trick the game into a different moon phase?

    Final level

I 've been so stuck for the past few days and don't know what to do in the
well. I was able to play under a new moon with rain and can see the lines drawn but cannot figure out what to do next? Any hints? I remember the bird from the treehouse but don't know what to do next.
    thanks!
