From the girl who debuted opposite Shah Rukh Khan in her first film, to a producer in her own right, Anushka Sharma's journey in Bollywood has been one worth following. Known to be fastidious about her privacy, an animal rights activist and a fan of minimalism, Sharma’s decade in the industry was also fuelled by some iconic sartorial moments.
Film career
The star debuted in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), followed by blockbusters Badmaash Company and Band Baaja Baaraat in 2010, Patiala House and Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl in 2011, and Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012). Other notable performances include PK (2014) and NH10 (2015). Hits Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), Sultan (2016), Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) followed soon and most recently Sanju, Zero and Sui Dhaaga in 2018. This year, Sharma is on a hiatus and co-producing next big project with Netflix.
Style files
As a Bollywood newcomer still working on making her mark in the industry, Anushka Sharma spent most of her early years stepping out in bodycon dresses and skinny jeans for press events, and extravagant evening gowns and Indian ethnic wear for the red carpet. Her favourites were embellished Roberto Cavalli floor grazers and Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla anarkalis.
As 2014 passed, Sharma finally established her personal style: boho chic for lazy days at the movies, and more often than not, tailored separates and vibrant prints when it was time to clean up. One of her best looks that year included her front-row-worthy Burberry look at the brand's fashion show. Another highlight was at Vogue Beauty Awards 2015, when Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli stepped out in public as a couple for the first time ever. The star chose a lemon yellow Gauri & Nainika gown for the occasion.

Style evolution
Approaching 2016, the Bollywood star started inching towards cleaner lines and sharper silhouettes. “She is never in excess. For Anushka, she likes to keep things more real in that sense. But if a red-carpet event demands she dress up, she does step out in all her glory,” said her stylist Allia al Rufai. Her own label Nush, launched in 2017, is an extension of her personal style and wardrobe that offers graphic tees and sporty sweatshirts. When the star got married to her long-time beau Kohli in December, her pastel pink and floral embroidered Sabyasachi lehenga, and consequent outfits created a fashion outburst on social media.
But among Anushka Sharma’s classic tailored looks, there are also bursts of colour. She has favoured a neat head-to-toe red suit by Nikhil Thampi in 2017, and bold separates in twice in 2018. This year, Sharma’s signature athleisure looks have become airport staples, that have included co-ordinated tracksuits, wide-legged jeans and denim jackets. “I actually borrow a lot from Virat’s wardrobe, mostly T-shirts and stuff,” the actor told Vogue during her November cover shoot. “I just do it because he feels very happy when I wear his clothes.” Sharma’s also brought her love for sharp tailoring to the Vogue Women Of The Year 2019 awards in a menswear-inspired Gucci jumpsuit and slouchy jacket.
