2 Homemade Snacks Way Better Than the Grocery Store Versions

Eating between meals can be good for you, especially when the choices are as healthy as these.

Jade is a snacker, and so am I. Eating small meals over the course of the day is a part of how I stay healthy; it keeps my metabolism humming along and helps me avoid feeling starved or stuffed. Snacks help us all stay on an even keel throughout the day, whether after school or between meetings.

But when I say snacking is good for you, I don’t mean you can gorge on chips and cookies. You need to choose healthy snacks for this plan to work.

It can be something simple—I always keep a stash of almonds in my purse—or it can be something you make, like these grab-and-go granola bars and baked kale and sweet potato chips.
