How to fix a leaky faucet
- Turn off the faucet’s water supply
- Cover the drain to avoid losing pieces
- Remove the decorative cap
- Unscrew and remove the handle
- Remove the valve stem assembly
- Remove the worn rubber washer. On brass valve stems, this is screwed to the bottom
- Replace with new washer
- Reassemble the handle
How to replace the aerator
Changing the aerator can reduce water consumption by 30% or more. When replacing the aerator, make sure you replace the old one with a new one of the same size. Flow rates can be as low as 0.5 gallons per minute.
