Update: Haverstraw Ossining Ferry Service Restored, Station Re-opened

A Hazmat incident near the Ossining station caused delays and problems Monday along the Metro-North Hudson Line.

Updated at 9:18 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015: Service on the Haverstraw Ossining Ferry has been restored and Metro-North trains are stopping again at the Ossining station Monday night following a Hazmat incident near the station.



Updated at 6:20 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015: Metro-North’s Hudson Line is still experiencing delays, and trains are continuing not to stop at Ossining, according to the following statement from officials:

Hudson Line Service is currently experiencing 15 - 20 minute delays due to an incident at an Industrial Facility adjacent to our tracks in Ossining. Trains are currently not permitted to stop at Ossining. Customers wishing to detrain at Ossining should travel to Croton Harmon where bus service will be provided to Ossining. Customers wishing to travel from Ossining should use another Hudson Line station. Please listen for announcements at your station.

Updated at 4:51 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015: Haverstraw Ossining Ferry service has been temporarily suspended Monday evening by Metro-North.

The railroad issued the following statement explaining the situation:

The Haverstraw Ossining Ferry is currently suspended due to an incident at an Industrial Facility adjacent to our tracks in Ossining. Alternate service is being arranged. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.

Ossining Police also issued the following statement on its Facebook page:

The trains are up and running but will bypass Ossining for a while. metro North is providing a bus bridge so our commuters aren’t stranded.

The Ossining Fire Department is currently handling a call near the Ossining Train Station. Metro-North Railroad service has been suspended between Tarrytown and Croton-Harmon. For now we’re asking everyone to avoid the area. We’ll give an update when things are cleared up.

Original story: Trains on Metro-North’s Hudson Line are temporarily bypassing the Ossining Station due to police activity in the area, the railroad announced Monday afternoon.


Travelers along the line can expect some delays in service Monday afternoon.

Additional details were not immediately available, but News 12’s Tara Rosenblum reports it is due to a HazMat situation in the area.
