Stunning Works in Miniature at New Hastings-on-Hudson Exhibit

Presented by D. Thomas Fine Miniatures

A new exhibition by Natasha Beshenkovsky, called “Still Life in Miniature,” is currently at D. Thomas Fine Miniatures in Hastings-on-Hudson through February 16, 2016.

The show features recent works by Beshenkovsky, renowned for her exquisite and evolving portfolio of fine 1/12th scale miniatures.

“Natasha’s vast portfolio draws on her deep roots as a classically trained artist; she has studied the the techniques of the masters throughout her life and is a graduate of the rigorous Moscow Art School,” said organizers in a statement. “Her professional career has included working in oil and watercolor painting, book illustration, scenic and textile design and animation. Since 1977 she has applied her talent, passion and inventive design skills from these traditional and well-known genres to the world of fine scale miniatures with aplomb.”

Beshenkovsky’s signature creations include highly decorated furniture (tables, commodes, musical instruments), fully-hinged painted room screens, trays and small boxes, sculptures of cats, dogs and whimsical expressive characters, original paintings and her now famous 3-dimensional paintings and shadowboxes. Many of her creations have been inspired by her study and love of the works of the Dutch Masters, Peter deHoch, Pierre Bonnard, Jean-Baptiste-Simeon Chardin, among others.

“I am proud to host this exhibition in our gallery and to bring a small sample of Natasha’s incredible talent and passion to miniature enthusiasts here in the lower Hudson Valley,” said Darren Scala, miniaturist and owner of D. Thomas Fine Miniatures, in a statement. “Natasha’s example of bridging traditional art with fine scale miniatures is inspiring and this exhibition is truly a dream come true.”
