About this item

  • NATURALLY SWEET - Coconut Secret Coconut Crystals are made from one ingredient: coconut sap. This sap is sweet right out of the tree and is very low-glycemic and contains minerals, vitamins, and 17 amino acids
  • FROM SAP TO SUGAR - Coconut Crystals are created by allowing the sap from coconut blossoms to evaporate and crystallize into a brown sugar, which only takes an hour and a half or less. This is unlike most other sweeteners, which have to be boiled at high temperatures and condensed to concentrate the sweetness
  • DELICIOUS ALTERNATIVE - Our Coconut Crystals have a delicious, naturally sweet, caramel-like flavor. Since they are made from the tree's sap and not coconuts, they do not have a coconut flavor and are not considered an allergen
  • VERSATILE NATURAL SWEETENER- The naturally sweet and rich flavor of Coconut Crystals make them an ideal sweetener for cookies, muffins, confections and in tea, coffee, and smoothies
  • SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES - Agrochemicals and GMOs are strictly prohibited from our farms in the Philippines. We use environmentally sustainable organic farming methods and always follow fair trade practices so you can consume our products with confidence

I needed to severely cut down on my sugar intake, and also want to stay away from artificial/chemical sweeteners. Stevia is ok but still gives me that aftertaste that I don't find appealing; it's good for some things, but not everything. This product is amazing! I'm so glad to have found something that is sold in its natural, organic, raw state that is low-glycemic and actually good for you! I will make sure I always have this on hand to sweeten my coffee, tea, oatmeal, etc.

I was in eager anticipation of this product.
I wondered if I would like it or not. I needed it for a substitute for sugar and honey as I am allergic to honey and I can not have processed sugars. This is a low glycemic index product with a very good taste. No it's not as sweet as sugar, but overtime I have come to love it and now prefer the taste by far than regular sugar. It's not as sweet.
If you need it in baking, you may want to put it in a coffee grinder for a few pulses to make the consistency more fine. Be careful to not over processor you will make coconut butter :).

    TASTES AWFUL!
  • Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2012
It has a really nice sweetness by itself and leaves no aftertaste. I got it mainly for my coffee and I like the fact that it is raw and nutritious; however, the heat of the coffee will destroy any live enzymes present.

I gave it 3 stars because (1) it is rather clumped up in the container, although it does dissolve rather nicely. (2)And, although it is nicely sweet, I have to use 2 to 3 teaspoons of it in 10 oz of coffee rather than the 1 teaspoon I was using with my regular organic sugar. (3) It is rather "heavy" and somewhat cocoa tasting, although not offensive.

I have also tried Sweetleaf stevia with the coffee but did not like it and this sweetener is much better.

Still, I will try another palm sweetener the next time I order.....Navitas looks pretty good.

UPDATE 02/14/2012: Although I do not care to use it with my coffee, I am going to upgrade it to 4 stars because I have found it is very good with plain, Greek yogurt, cold cereal and oatmeal...and, dissolves very well in all 3.

This stuff is awesome and is now my go-to sweetener. I agree with other reviewers who say it tastes like brown sugar. It dissolves pretty easily, even in cold liquids and adds just the right amount of sweet while having a low glycemic index. I haven't been crazy about the taste of stevia and I've read that honey and agave have a pretty high amount of natural sugars, so I think I'll be sticking with this.

Good product. Better than some that are not made from the sap. Its a great healthier alternative to refined sugar and low in fructose. It won't be as sweet per teaspoon as refined sugar, but we should all adjust our taste buds to needing less sugar anyway. It's great in coffee and received approval from my coffee snob husband. No after-taste and does not taste like coconut. I have not baked with it yet but may use it instead of brown sugar this Thanksgiving after reading other reviews.

...it alters the taste of the tea. I notice it every time I use it versus say the xylitol. I guess it is the coconut that is being infused in the tea, but I prefer the taste of just the tea. Now if I drank Lipton or Tetley's standard brand, I suspect the coconut infusion would be a pleasant treat, with flavored teas, not so much.

I LOVE this product. I am really excited that I found it. Simply put: I am always looking for better ways to eat healthier, lower carb, and more NATURAL. Can't take my coffee black, no matter what. Always hated the idea of splenda, equal, etc... but used it anyway in my morning cuppa. Just by coincidence I came across this item and ordered it...the same day it arrived my brother called and told me Dr. Oz had been talking about it on his show! I am very happy to say that in spite of the different appearance, the taste and smell of this product is wonderful! I put it on my 5 year olds fresh strawberries ( he always wants some sugar on them) - the crystals dissolved on the wet berries in no time - I stirred it around and gave it to him. He loved it. I have been fighting the "sugar battle" with him, like any kid he loves sweet stuff - and now I will be happy to let him have this on his french toast, over grapefruit - I am going to try it in my homemade hot cocoa. HAPPY HAPPY!! Baby steps, but they all add up towards better health. Also told my diabetic friend about this, and she is going to order it as well. Love all the coconut products, I have been using coconut oil in everything, with great results - next up is to try coconut flour.
