Mercedes-Benz chose to release details about the US-spec 2017 C-Class Coupe first, but now it’s time to find out what the new model will offer in Europe.

Arriving in European markets in December 2015, the all-new C-Class Coupe will be offered with six engines initially: four petrol and two diesel units. All engines are Euro 6 compliant and fitted with ECO start/stop function as standard, with fuel economy purportedly down by up to 20 percent compared with the previous C-Class Coupe.

The entry-level petrol engine is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder in the C 180 with 156PS (154hp), followed by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the C 200 with 184PS (181hp).

For those who want more power, Mercedes-Benz will also offer the 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit in a 211PS (208hp) version for the C 250 and in a 245PS (242hp) version for the C 300.

The two four-cylinder diesel engines available at the beginning of sales are rated at 170PS (168hp) and 204PS (201hp) and feature ecofriendly SCR technology (Selective Catalytic Reduction) for exhaust gas after treatment. More powerful units, including the range-topping AMG models, will arrive later.

In Europe, the C-Class Coupe will come with steel suspension as standard, with two variants with selective damping system available in conjunction with this suspension: the comfort-focused Agility Control suspension and a sports suspension with firmer springing and damping including Sports Direct-Steer system.

Mercedes-Benz also offers an optional Airmatic air suspension on the front and rear axle with five driving modes: “ECO”, “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport +” and “Individual” (the latter allows the driver to customize the vehicle settings).

As you’d expect, on the tech front the list is very long and includes standard features such as Attention Assist, Collision Prevention Assist Plus and Adaptive Brake Assist. Optional safety assistance systems include the Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control system with Steering Assist and Stop&Go Pilot, BAS Plus brake assist system Pre-Safe Brake, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Pre-Safe Plus and many, many more.
