Prepare for a Job Interview by Writing Your Own Recommendation Letter

Job interviews include all sorts of questions and scenarios. Instead of memorizing a script, try writing (but not sending) your own letter of recommendation.

Your goal is to convince your potential employer you’re the best person for the job, matching up the job requirements with your skills. Personal Branding Blog says that writing out your accomplishments may help you prepare:

The brainstorming process that comes with writing your own recommendation could give you the necessary reframe to align your talents with those necessary to get you hired. So write your own recommendation today and increase your self-awareness so if someone asks you what you bring to the table, you’ll have a succinct, clear and well thought out answer about how you could add value there

Some people have trouble talking about their virtues, but would have no problem recommending someone for a job. If you’re one of those people, this is a good exercise. You won’t send the letter, of course, but it’ll help you get in the right frame of mind when it’s time to sell your skills.
