Solarize Westchester Programs for Commercial Property Owners

Programs in Tarrytown, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings-on-Hudson, New Castle, Somers and Rye Brook

Solarize Westchester, a program catalyzing growth in solar installations in Westchester, has launched its second round of campaigns in communities across the County. After a highly successful first round, resulting in well over 200 signed solar contracts totaling over 1.7 megawatts, the second wave of Solarize campaigns is underway in the following communities: Dobbs Ferry, Hastings on Hudson, New Castle, Rye Brook, Somers and Tarrytown. Over seven hundred requests for site visits have been logged already from homeowners and commercial property owners in these communities since the campaigns launched in October.

The commercial component of the current campaigns, which encompasses non-profits, commercial, industrial and multi-family properties, is now accelerating into high gear. Workshops to introduce the Solarize opportunity to owners and managers of these properties are scheduled as follows:

· Rye Brook, the commercial event took place on November 19th at Westchester Burger.

· Hastings-on-Hudson and Dobbs Ferry, St. George (Hastings), Tuesday December 8th, at 6 p.m.

· New Castle, Local, Wednesday December 9th at 7 pm.

Solar installers selected for the current campaigns are Best Energy Power (914-861-4685), serving Rye Brook (the offer is extended to Port Chester as well), Somers, New Castle and Tarrytown, and Sunrise Solar Solutions (914-762-7622 ), the commercial installer for Hastings and Dobbs Ferry. Interested commercial property owners should call the selected installer for details and to register for these free events (registration is required for attendance).

The Solarize Commercial Workshops will include participation from community leaders, Solarize Westchester, the selected Solarize commercial installer, and Energize NY. Refreshments will be provided.

Supported by NYSERDA, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, Solarize makes installing solar systems easier and more affordable during time-limited campaigns in select communities. Solar installers apply to be considered for the program and are vetted by New York State, Solarize Westchester and representatives of the participating communities prior to selection. The Solarize program offers attractive pricing for high quality installations.

The cost of solar installations in New York State is deeply reduced – by about 70% - by tax credits, rebates and other incentives. Some of these incentives are declining or scheduled to expire so this is an optimal time to move forward with solar and to lock in deep energy savings over the 25 + year expected life of the system. Solarize installers can provide access to attractive financing for residential and commercial installations, allowing eligible candidates ownership of the systems with no money down.
