Nikon issues official statement regarding D750 flare issues

Nikon today released an official statement regarding the flare issues a large number of D750 users are reporting. Late last week we shared news of the banding, including a detailed diagnosis of the problem and several workarounds. 

To briefly recap the issue: When shooting with a light source just outside the frame, some users of Nikon’s D750 report a dark band across the top of the frame. This banding issue seems to affect only certain D750 bodies in specific shooting conditions, but the banding can be dramatic when present.

In the official statement, Nikon reiterates the issue we reported, stating:

‘We have received indications from some users that when photographing scenes in which a bright light source, such as the sun or high-intensity lighting, is at a certain position along the top border of the frame, flare with an unnatural shape may sometimes occur in images captured with the D750 digital SLR camera.’

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any (official) resolution as yet:

‘We are currently looking into measures to address this issue. Further details will be announced as soon as they are determined.’

Until Nikon announces their official fix, our suggested DIY methods will have to do.
