PES 2016 offering limited PlayStation free-to-play version starting Dec. 8

Konami today announced a free-to-play edition of its soccer game PES 2016, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

From Dec. 8, an entry-level version of the game will be available to download for free. It offers an Exhibition Mode featuring seven teams including Bayern Munich, Juventus, AS Roma, Brazil and France. There is also a training section and MyClub, which allows players to build their own team from available players.

MyClub appears to be the hub of Konami's free-to-play plan, with players available to pick via "points acquired through success in matches or with MyClub coins," according to a company statement.

PES 2016 was released in September to generally favorable reviews. According to Konami, the free-to-play version will include "all future gameplay and content update" including roster updates.

The next level of puzzles.
