Roads around Nunciature closed for papal visit

Roads around the Apostolic Nunciature in Manila were closed at midnight Wednesday in time for Pope Francis' five-day visit to the Philippines.

As of midnight, authorities closed the stretch of Taft Avenue from Quirino Avenue to P. Ocampo Street, radio dzBB's James Agustin reported.

Blocked off as well to vehicular traffic was Leon Guinto Street corner Quirino Avenue until P. Ocampo Street.

Enforcers also closed off the corner of San Andres Street and Quirino Avenue.

Pope Francis is to arrive at 5:45 p.m. and will be brought to the Nunciature via a motorcade from Villamor Air Base.
