The Weather Channel said meteorologist Jim Cantore will join Sam Champion as co-host of AMHQ, the network’s morning show that is now expanding to the weekends beginning January 31 hosted by Kait Parker and Reynolds Wolf.
Cantore’s gig starts January 26, and Weather Channel in its release promised he won’t be tethered exclusively to the studio — good news for fans of his on-the-scene reporting that has made him the network’s most popular weather honcho. “While Jim will be in the studio regularly for AMHQ, the minute severe weather threatens, he will be out in the elements providing his insights and expertise,” Champion said.
Also joining AMHQ will be meteorologist Jennifer Delgado, who also debuts January 26. The show airs from 7-10 AM ET and follows Wake Up With Al with host Al Roker.
The Weather Channel also announced that Maria LaRosa will be getting her own show, joined by Paul Goodloe. Details have not been finalized on that one. Weather Channel already has a Mike Bettes-hosted evening program in the works for a March launch.
