A Wal-Mart employee faces 13 property theft charges after police say she stole thousands of dollars in cash and gift cards.

Court records, which cite a surveillance video, say 19-year-old Joslin Alderidge stole about $10,000 in cash and gift cards, some worth as much as $950, in a matter of about five and a half hours.

And it appears the woman entered her employee information each time.

Records said that on Dec. 4, around 4 p.m., a surveillance video caught Alderidge ringing up a gift card in the amount of $200, taking $60 from the register and then hiding the card and money on her person.

Then, a little later, records say, surveillance footage captured Alderidge ringing up a card several more times.

Alderidge was charged with 13 counts of property theft in incidents where Alderidge reportedly swiped the gift cards, took money or both and then hid the money and cards on her person.

Court records said that at the end of Alderidge's shift, she was observed leaving the local Wal-Mart with the money and cards.

An arrest affidavit said that each time a gift card is entered, the employee must enter their information for the transaction.

"A check of the system, as well as the defendant's register, matched the amount stolen by the defendant," an arrest affidavit said.
