Here's who's joining The Joker in DC's Suicide Squad movie (update)

After revealing his take on DC Comics' iconic villain The Joker last month, director David Ayer today showed off the rest of the Suicide Squad from the upcoming Warner Bros. film of the same name. It's our first official peek at Will Smith as Deadshot and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. And yes, Killer Croc does look like he's part crocodile.

Here's who's going to be on the Suicide Squad roster (and who's playing whom), based on the photo Ayer tweeted today, from left to right:

  • Slipknot (Adam Beach)
  • Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney)
  • Katana (Karen Fukuhara)
  • Enchantress (Cara Delevingne)
  • Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman)
  • Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie)
  • Deadshot (Will Smith)
  • Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje)
  • El Diablo (Jay Hernandez)

The Suicide Squad — aka Task Force X, as Ayer calls them — is composed of DC supervillains who undertake high-risk, covert operations for the U.S. government for a shot at commuted prison sentences. The photo's "Welcome to Belle Reve" background refers to the DC Universe federal penitentiary that's home to many of the supervillains and metahumans who serve in the Suicide Squad.

David Ayer (Training Day, End of Watch) is writing and directing the film, which opens Aug. 5, 2016.

Suicide Squad is one of 10 movies based on DC Comics characters that Warner Bros. has planned to hit theaters by 2020. Warner announced its extended comic book movie slate, which also includes films based on Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman, last October.

Update: Will Smith posted a separate photo of his character to his official Facebook, showing what the he'll look like while wearing Deadshot's trademark mask.
