Lady Gaga makes her American Horror Story: Hotel debut in new teaser

Lady Gaga is just one of many stars that we’ll see in the upcoming American Horror Story: Hotel, but she’s one of the most anticipated. By checking into Hotel, the singer is set to take on her first major TV role. A teaser released by FX Networks Monday offered the first look — albeit a short one — at the Mother Monster checking into the hotel on which the series focuses.

At just 10 seconds long, the teaser isn’t exactly the most informative, but we do see Gaga’s silver hand (complete with long fingernails and attached to her heavily ornamented arm) as she rings the check-in desk’s bell for service. From the look of it, the lounge singer she plays is just as into sartorial flair as the pop star herself is. American Horror Story executive producer Ryan Murphy admitted that he couldn’t help but make fashion part of her role during a Comic-Con panel on Sunday. “You want Lady Gaga to look a certain way. The designers have been coming out of the woodwork with looks for her,” he added.

Murphy also revealed that her character will be a villain. “She said, ‘I want to be evil,'” said Murphy of their first meeting. “I said, ‘You came to the right place.'”

In June, Murphy let it slip on Twitter that the characters played by Finn Wittrock and Matt Bomer will try to win the heart of Gaga’s character. (That’s assuming she has one, right?)

American Horror Story: Hotel, which premieres on FX in October, also stars Wes Bentley, Cheyenne Jackson, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Chloe Sevigny, Evan Peters, Max Greenfield, and Angela Bassett.

The best movies on Amazon Prime Video (June 2024)
Kevin Hart and John Cena in Die Har 2: Die Harter.

Amazon Prime Video subscibers are going to have to wait one more day for the June movies to arrive, including Paul Thomas Anderson's classic Punch-Drunk Love. The good news is that Prime Video had one more big release in May that's topping the charts at the moment: Die Hart 2: Die Harter.

Additionally, only a handful of titles were dropped from Prime Video's library for June. So many recent films from Universal Pictures and Paramount remain available. And later this month, Universal's Oppenheimer will be coming to Prime Video as well. Since that's the reigning winner for Best Picture at the Oscars, it's going to be a popular selection.

The 50 best movies on Netflix right now (June 2024)
Antonio Banderas in Security.

There are better times coming for Netflix this summer, but the first weekend of June is pretty quiet by streaming standards. Jennifer Lopez's sci-fi flick Atlas remains on top of the list of the most popular movies on Netflix. Even Madame Web is hanging around in the top five, while The Super Mario Bros. Movie is once again showing its dominance by climbing up the charts nearly seven months after arriving on Netflix.

This week's newcomers include Security, an action thriller starring Antonio Banderas that went largely unnoticed in 2017. But as we've seen many times before, Netflix subscribers flock to films that never hit it big in theaters. Our second new addition of the week is Butterfly in the Sky, a 2022 documentary about Reading Rainbow.
