McLaren Commences 570S Production, Announces New Bodystyle For 2016

McLaren started production of the new Sports Series models at its Woking, England, facility. The British brand has more than 1,000 orders for its “baby” supercar and the first example of the 570S to roll off the assembly line has already been delivered to a UK retailer.

The 570S will be joined by the 540C and the lineup will receive a new member in 2016, when a third, at this point unknown, bodystyle will be unveiled. The Sports Series family will be complete by 2018, with the 570 Spider, and it will contribute considerably in doubling the company’s volume to just over 4,000 cars annually.

The cheapest McLaren currently on sale is the 540C. This starts from GBP126,000, on its local market, and it’s followed by the 570S, from GBP143,250.

The 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8, which is powering all current McLarens in different states of tune, is used in both variants in different outputs: 540 PS (533 HP) & 540 Nm (498 lb-ft) and 570 PS (562 HP) & 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) respectively. Sprinting to 100km/h (62 mph) takes 3.5 seconds for the 540C and 3.2 seconds for the 570C, with the 570S having a 5 mph (8 km/h) higher top speed (204 vs 199 mph or 328 vs 320 km/h).
