New Samsung smartwatch with round display might be announced at MWC 2015, Android Wear not in sight

It seems that, whatever they’re doing, Samsung and LG almost always end up having products that directly compete with each other. With that in mind, we shouldn’t be surprised to find out that Samsung is reportedly getting ready to announce a smartwatch with a circular display - similar to LG’s Android Wear-based G Watch R.

According to SamMobile, Samsung’s round-faced smartwatch may have the model number SM-R720, currently being codenamed Orbis. Interestingly, the device will not run Android Wear, instead being based on Tizen OS (just like Samsung’s latest smartwatch, the curved Gear S). It’s not the first time we’re hearing about a Samsung-made round smartwatch, with rumors about this being around since last summer.

It’s said that Samsung plans to unveil the Orbis smartwatch at MWC 2015 (2 - 5 March). Details about its features, price, and launch are not available yet, but we do hope to hear more on this soon.
