While not as significant as console, PC, or mobile earnings, social gaming is expected to earn an estimated $7.9 billion this year. Virtual reality was at the lowest point on the earnings spectrum with an estimated $225 million to be earned in 2015. Next year's release of the Oculus Rift or the future plans of Sony's Project Morpheus and other VR headsets may lead to an eventual increase in the virtual reality market, however.
Despite this data, it should be noted that mobile is still a larger market worldwide than both console and PC. The latter are likely generating more revenue due to the higher cost of retail and downloadable games compared to that of mobile.
