Camera bags come in every style, shape and size you can possibly imagine. But sometimes you want something a bit less conspicuous or a bit more personal than what most camera bags offer. In that case, the best option is to create your own camera bag. And what better way to do that than to modify a bag, case or purse of your own to get the job done.

Caleb Pike of DSLR Video Shooter has created and shared a helpful tutorial that shows you how to turn almost any bag or purse into a dedicated camera bag.

In the eight minute video, Pike breaks down his modular method for ensuring that you can pack almost any gear you need to into a standard bag. To do this, Pike suggest coming up with a dedicated system that uses a combination of smaller, padded bags to carry around your gear.

One by one, Pike breaks down a number of modular components from various companies that he and his team have used in the past to get gear from one shoot to another.

The video has an accompanying blog post on DLSR Video Shooter, which lays out and links just a few of the components Pike explained in the video.

If you currently have a similar setup or decide to make one, share it in the comments below. I’ve long been a fan of custom camera bags and would love to see what IR readers work with.
