Brotherhood. Club. Family.

They live and ride by their own rules.

These are the Raven Riders . . .

Raven Riders Motorcycle Club President Dare Kenyon rides hard and values loyalty above all else. He’ll do anything to protect the brotherhood of bikers—the only family he’s got—as well as those who can’t defend themselves. So when mistrustful Haven Randall lands on the club’s doorstep scared that she’s being hunted, Dare takes her in, swears to keep her safe, and pushes to learn the secrets overshadowing her pretty smile.

Haven fled from years of abuse at the hands of her criminal father and is suspicious of any man’s promises, including those of the darkly sexy and overwhelmingly intense Ravens’ leader. But as the powerful attraction between them flares to life, Dare pushes her boundaries and tempts her to want things she never thought she could.

The past never dies without a fight, but Dare Kenyon’s never backed down before . . .

Enjoyable read but lighter than I expected.

This was a very different MC read, the Raven Riders protect the weak and vulnerable and as such it's a much softer read than I was expecting.
Haven has lived an isolated life, her father Randall, head of a criminal organisation and a truly evil man withdrew her from school and started homeschooling in the tenth grade so he could control her every move. She served as a cook and maid and at times was treated no better than a dog, the final straw came when she discovered he was going to marry her off to another crime family to cement an alliance.
She's shy and reserved having only one friend Cora who was acceptable only because her father worked for Randall.
After finally escaping Haven and Cora run into problems along the way but the girls finally find themselves at the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club who assure them they will protect and look after them. Haven's wary and unsure, she's not used to so much noise and so many people but then she meets their president Dare Kenyon and she feels something else entirely.
This wasn't the book I expected like I said it was softer and sweeter but I liked it and I didn't want to put it down.

Haven and her best friend ran from her criminal of a father, determined to be finally free and able to live a good life. But that didn't happen when on their journey they were kidnapped by a Baltimore gang. Lucky for them the Raven Riders were there to rescue them and now they are safe in their compound.

It's hard for Haven to trust though so she's still weary and shy around everyone, choosing to stay in her room most of the time. When her friend convinces her to get out and meet some of the men who saved her, it changed everything. Learning more about Dare makes her want things she shouldn't. Things that could get her in trouble, especially if he learns her secret.
"He is hot in a tall, dark, and scary kind of way."

I don't say this too often, but I really liked this heroine. There were moments that Haven really annoyed me and I wasn't so sure about her, but by the end my decision was that I liked her. Main reason because of how her character grew over the course of the book, and seeing it was something amazing. The character development was solid and the slight changes in Haven flowed nicely with the book.

The only problem I had with the story was the fact that it's a spin-off of Laura Kaye's Hard Ink series, which I haven't finished, and there were things I didn't understand because of it. How Haven came to be living at Dare's compound was mentioned but I felt like it was very vague and I wanted to know more about it since it had a lot to do with this book. I wouldn't have minded if the situation the Raven Riders saved her from was explained fully but since it was almost like hints as to what happened, I was left wanting more.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I'm already looking forward to more from these characters. I recommend it for anyone that likes a tough biker and a sweet girl trying to be free in life. I would recommend reading the Hard Ink first, though it's not fully necessary.

I am truly disappointed with Ride Hard. Miss Kaye was my favorite author. Her cheesy romantic writing usually executed with the right amount of cheesyness.

Ride Hard is all over the place. All the wrong place. The character development is zero. Dare and Haven are one dimensional character. Haven is the queen of doormat. She is tryinvg too hard to be a virgin while she is being dumb and stupid. Dare is confusing. His insta attraction toward Haven is without base.

The MC gritty dark world is also a joke. There is no focus on the action and suspense. Ove I am very frustrated with Ride Hard.

I read romance because, typically, it's written by women for women. For every time I throw my fist in the air and yell "Preach!" while reading a Dahl heroine and for every time I become a sobbing mess feeling the pain of a Milan heroine, I'll keep coming back because in some way my issues and emotions are laid bare, acknowledged, and discussed.

I want to call this a New Adult but with a hero who is 37yrs old, can I? The heroine is 22yrs old and she was definitely not written for me. There's reason for her to be shy and guarded but the whole lost little girl thing did not play well with my 33yrs old self. Haven loves to cook, is so sweetly shy, but wait, also craves sex. Now, of course, a woman can have these traits but the way it is written here, kind of shallow character depth with just these traits front and center and maybe you could see why I feel like this heroine was written for some shitty ideal for what men want? She's an angel, so pure, and sweet but, without a lot of interaction, emotional depth, and relationship building becomes some sort of highly driven sexual being with the hero. It just doesn't work without depth, building blocks, and growth. I felt like I was reading a play where a dude takes a Barbie doll and a Ken doll and smashes them together over and over and declares it a romance.

Maybe I'm just getting too old for these types of romance but dang it, give me emotion and depth.

I have to be honest and say that I was close to DNFing this at the first 20-30%. However as the plot and pace picked up, I found myself more interested in what was going on. Haven meets Dare after friends of his rescue her from a bad situation and place her and her bestie with his club for their protection. Haven is hiding her identity because her dad is not a good man. Although Haven eventually comes into her own personality, the beginning left me very frustrated with at times over the top "innocence". She is not by any means the strong heroine I've come to prefer but by the end of the story, I liked her just a little more. Dare doesn't win any hero awards with me, Especially when he makes a hurtful comment and chooses not to correct it, yet still doesn't back off the heroine. Way to send mixed messages, dude. When they finally get down to business, they do make a steamy pair. All in all the plot lines that were established, have a leg to stand on and while I didn't exactly love this, I was entertained and would want to know what happens to some of the other brothers. Safety: H starts off about to have a sexual encounter with OW but he stops it when he sees the h. No OM/sharing. Condoms all but one time. No rape/abuse.

1 star – MC Romance/Romantic Suspense

I really struggled with this one. To be fair, I didn't realize it was a spin-off of (and strongly related to) her Hard Ink series, which I didn't finish. So I felt a bit lost and like I was missing something.

I didn't like how it started with the hero nearly . I just didn't care at all for the characters, and it really dragged, especially given how much I disliked the beginning of the book. So yeah, this was a pretty blah/meh read for me, unfortunately.

I imagine other readers will enjoy it more than I did, especially fans of MC romances and her Hard Ink series.

Summary
President of the Raven Riders Motorcyle Club, Dare Kenyon, loves to ride and showing his loyalty and care to his club he has devoted most of his life to changing for the better. They ride, fight and they protect and aid those in need. Dare will do anything to protect his brothers. But then he and his club, come across two women that were going to be sold and rescued them and offered them shelter. One of them, Haven Randall calls to him in a way he has never been drawn to a woman before. Haven Randall has gone through hell and she trusts no man. She has only known brutality, horrors, abuse  and fear. But now she is with the Raven Riders, and even though she yearns for the day that she can be couragous and bold, she wonders if she ever will be able to. Until she faces her fears, and goes to a party and stumbles across the club president, Dare. He is so different....kind and protective. The sparks between them grow, and the chemistry is explosive but just when their relationship is becoming even more solid, the dangers to the club will rise when Haven's past comes to them to bite....but will Dare have to choose between his brothers or the only woman he has ever loved?
The Hero
Dare Kenyon, grew up in a rough MC. His father ran it, and they stayed behind the law. His home life was brutal, his father abusive to himself, his mother and his brother. On a fateful night when they were trying to leave, he lost his mother and brother and didn't have the courage to save them. It was his biggest regret and still haunts him. Now however, through a twist of fate, he came to his grandfather's club, and turned it completely around. It stayed a brotherhood, but stronger and their motto became more to protect those that come from abusive situations where the law couldn't help those in need. They give back to the community in any way they can. Dare is a hero you want as a future mate 100%.
“I need you to try to judge me on my actions and my words, not on the actions and words of the people who came before me in your life.”

From the first moment he steps into the story, I was in love. He may be a rough rider, and leader of a MC club, but he is also kind and caring  and has a heart of gold.
The Heroine
Haven Randall, has never known love or affection. Her father treated her like a possession and a slave in any practical sense. She cooked and cleaned for him, but when she came of age he kept her, because he would use her to solidify criminal alliances through a forced marriage. She knew then, she had to leave and to life a full life. She wanted more from life than suffering at his hand. So she and her best friend, find an place of peace and friendship. But Haven still fears everything around her. Her only peace is cooking tasty treats in secret for the brotherhood. Then she stumbles across Dare, who is like a balm to her soul and she wants to explore everything with him.
She would cherish the feeling for the rest of her life. She couldn't imagne some like Dare again. Someone who she could trust without question, someone who she could reveal her darkest parts and deepest desires to, someone who made her feel beautiful for wanting things. And who gave those things to her with such incredible generosity and passion.

Haven was such a heroine that goes through a emotional journey of growth. I really liked her so much, because even though she is full of fear she wants to have adventure and live life a bit dangerously at times. I loved seeing her cross things off her "bucket list". She was very endearing at times, and loved her inner strength and courage.
Plot and Story Line
What a BOOK!!! Oh my goodness, I can't even express how much love I have for this story!!! It was thrilling, amazing and phenomenal in so many depths. Now I have read the Hard Ink Series---which rocked. But Laura Kaye totally upped her game with this book, probably the best book she has ever written and has reached the top of my list for MC romances. It was so different than I was expecting. In fact I was a bit nervous, because I was hoping that Laura Kaye wouldn't change her style of building a romance due to the setting of the story. Quite frankly, I enjoy MC romances but they can be tough and gritty and this story was so unique to this set up. It had a level of playfulness and some charming and sweet moments yet is still emotional and gritty too. I really admire the way this series is going. It has a theme to helping women that suffer through abuse situations---or that is what I am getting from reading this book and hints for the second book coming out next year. (and yes we have to wait a full year *sobs*)

So what made this book so amazing? So many things made this book such a wonderful and exciting journey. What I loved about this book, was seeing a woman that is suffering from a form of PTSD and change slowly from a woman shaking in fear to a woman that is full of zest and courage and spirit. These two characters are so wonderful for each other.
You Haven. Always you, I'm fucking starving for you. All the time. You think you're not wanted? I want you. I want you so much I don't know what I'm doing half the time. Every minute of every day, all I can think about is you.

Now I know, the age between them ( I believe its 13 years) can be a bit much for some readers, but I am telling you the way Laura Kaye writes it, wasn't a problem for me. Of course one of my grandparents they were 13 years apart and had a great marriage. So in my mind, it can work if its right. And its SO right for Dare and Haven to be together. From the beginning, you sense the attraction. Now Dare handles Haven in the right way. He knows that he can't bulldoze her. He doesn't want to frighten her or scare her, so he is patient, tender and kind. Boy did I love him right away just for that.
I will keep you safe, I will give you the life you deserve. I Promise

He doesn't rush into things with her. He tries to do what is best for her and the club. We see the conflict he goes through, because Haven's father could prove to be detrimental to the club and Dare might have to give her up just when he has fallen in love with her. This is what broke my heart, is seeing how much these two need the love that can heal past wounds. The love story between these two is heart wrenching, captivating and steals your heart!
The Cover
WHAT a cover....I just love it so much. Avon did a brilliant job with this one that is for sure!! I love the sexy pose, sensual but very poignant too. Its great to see a black and white cover with bright lettering. Great contrast.
Overall View
Ride Hard is brilliantly written and if you were ever nervous about reading a MC romance---READ THIS NOW!! You will fall madly in love with Dare and Haven. GUARANTEED. The Best Ride Of The Year in Romance!
I love you, I fucking love you so muich that I don't think I can exist without you. Not anymore. You're the most special thing I've found. You've given me love and acceptance and peace and comfort and made me realize that I want things out of this life too.

You own my heart and you always will, because you taught me what love was and you showed me what life could be. You gave me wings, Dare, and they brought me right back to you. And they always will

I love getting the chance to read authors who are new-to-me and LOVING the heck out of the first story I read from them. Ride Hard was so freaking good! I can’t wait to continue this series and discover all of the nuances and stories of its characters.

It was very easy to fall in love with Dare and Haven’s story. Dare was the President of the Raven Riders MC and their mission included helping the less fortunate. They provided safety and security to victims of domestic abuse and aided in developing a new life for survivors. Who wouldn’t love that? Haven was their latest client. She had recently run away from her father, who was the head of a criminal enterprise in Georgia, and was hoping to start fresh as far away from him as possible. She never expected to fall for one of the most dangerous men she’d ever seen. But one look into his eyes told her that his heart was gold and his soul called to her, making trusting him an easy feat. Dare had never intended on settling down. A tragic event from his past had instilled in him the belief that it was better to not form attachments. But he honestly couldn’t resist the sweetness that was Haven. Unfortunately, their time together was finite because she needed to start her new life, which would be away from Dare. Falling in love is never easy, huh? And when trouble comes calling, will these lovers even make it out alive?

"He’d told her once that she could find beauty in the world, and he’d been right. It was him, all along."

I really liked this story. It had suspense, drama, action and plenty of heart. I loved the brotherhood amongst the club members and the passion and commitment they each shared. Maverick, Dare’s cousin, seems to be in love and I’m eager to continue this series with his story, Ride Rough.

I...I actually liked this. 😳 I didn't think I would. Motorcycle Clubs aren't my thing. And this started out using some extremely cheesy cliched tropes. But the couple and their chemistry swayed me. I think what saved this besides the connection was the heroine coming out of her "lost broken girl" shell and willing to try new things and learning to be vocal about what she wants. I was very nervous there at the beginning. This still had it's cheesy moments but overall, not bad.
The kiss went on and on as they danced in a slow, rocking circle. When he finally pulled away, he leaned his forehead against hers, his eyes closed. The next words that came out of his mouth . . . were sung. Gravelly, rasping, so damn sexy. “I say, my darling, you were wonderful tonight.” His eyelids flipped open, a note of uncertainty in their brown depths. And Haven kissed that away with everything she was worth.

Dare and Haven were sweet, angsty and sexy. For a "moody" world weary biker, Dare was really sweet with this words and so demonstrative. Love how he let shy Haven take the lead/have a voice in things. And gah damn, Laura Kaye really knows how to write steamy loves scenes. Jesus. 🔥 And I actually want to read about the other guys in this group. Which is another surprise. I just hope 3 books is not all she has to give with so many guys in this club. Come on! Definitely wanting to read Sam "Slider" and Cora's book. Like now. #gimmegimme

“I’m fucking starving for you. All the time. You think you’re not wanted? I want you. I want you so much I don’t know what I’m doing half the time. Every minute of every day, all I can think about is you.”

I loved this author’s Hard Ink series, and was very excited to see that there was going to be a spin-off MC series.

Laura Kaye is famous for her action-packed and very sexy RS romances, and this book was no exception. I enjoyed the romance between Dare and Haven. I liked the instant attraction Dare had for Haven, although I must admit I did get frustrated with Dare’s continues action of pushing Haven away because she was either too young for him, too innocent, or a client that he couldn’t get involved with. I also didn’t like the opening scene, reading about him almost getting it on with another woman. Ugh.

But otherwise, the book was action packed, and the sexy times between Dare and Haven scorching.

“Just try to remember that those who’ve seen the most ugliness are also most able to recognize beauty. It comes down to trusting yourself as much as other people.”

This book, and the series, is another Laura Kaye masterpiece. Hands down and no doubt about that.

Raven Riders Motorcycle Club is not your typical MC. They are a brotherhood, a family, with a mission to be something more. And they are something more. We’ve met them (if you haven’t, you should) in the Hard Ink series when they become a hired help to the Hard Ink men, and later it became their personal fight, the cause to take down a gang in Baltimore.

I love the raw intensity coming from the characters. There’s just something in them that makes you like them and root for them, to grow and be something. I’ve always loved when there is character development and growth and I’ve seen it here. Somehow, the characters are likeable and yet, there’s still something in them that they need to take, to stand for, to be the person they become.

Dare is the President of the Ravens and with that comes the expectation of his brothers, as well as the responsibility to keep everyone safe, and all the other responsibility he had to shoulder.

Haven is one of the two girls that the Raven had helped rescued from an operation. She was escaping from a situation so fucked up. She has that innate goodness within her that you just wanted to be with her, and the admirable way she wanted to live her life.

Usually, starting a series is sometimes overwhelming as there are so many characters that you have to get to know and keep track of, but I guess it was because I’ve read the Hard Ink series that I was just too excited to read this book. I’ve already had an experience and expectation with the Ravens as I’ve read Ike’s story (Hard as Steel), but if you haven’t read any, you’re also good.

One thing that the Hard Ink fans will truly enjoy while reading this book is that the appearance of the Hard Ink men here. And of course, Laura Kaye doesn’t disappoint. There are of course, action, mystery to solve, well more like a big problem at that, and just a right mix of everything.

I love love this book. I tried so hard not be overwhelmed with my excitement over the Hard Ink men, and reading other characters that I’ve come to love and like, but I can’t help it. This is a treat for me! To read a new series and live another world, just wow. Wow!

“Live Dangerously!

Ride. Fight. Defend.”

I know I’ve been raving my love for this book. And the author has written this book in a way that will capture you’re attention, and glued you to the pages. But, the climax of the story disappointed me. Not because it wasn’t written perfectly, because it was to be honest, but it was something so predictable for me. I’ve anticipated it will happen at some point, and it did, and when you’re emotions are so high you’re shouting at your kindle to make the character stop and not do what you think she will do but she did anyway, it gutted me.

Thinking of the overall situation, it was supposed to be biggest turning point. To be honest, it’s not something you should be disappointed because the actions were actually so daring and valiant, and very admirable. It should have been emotional and so moving. It should have been like that but I felt so deflated, that it was how it happened.

When you read so many action and FUBAR situations, it’s hard to just enjoy the read because you can’t help but notice every little details, and predict how a situation will happen. I may have expected more, but nonetheless, that scenario was actually written spectacularly.

“Always you. I’m fucking starving for you. All the time.”

The sex was intense, the emotions were raw, and the firsts and the bucket list was something to live for, and I may copy some. This was an enjoyable and a worthwhile read.

As I’ve said, this book is a treat to all the Hard Ink fans. And, this is also a beautiful MC read. Ravens are hard ass bikers with great honor and cause that they support and they are actually inspiring. It’s a different take from other MCs I’ve read. This is definitely a must read.

“And in life where so very little was ever good, let alone perfect, it gave her some solace to be able to make something good-to do good-with her own two hands.”

This was not a typical biker read for me and I have to be honest, once I started reading this I could not put it down!

The Raven Riders are not like a stereotypical motorcycle club. They raise their hands but not to hurt people, to extend it for support. They like to help people who can't do it themselves. They offer safety and protection to vulnerable people that they cross paths with. Especially those who find themselves in situations of domestic violence. Don't let me confuse you though, they do love to drink, fuck women and ride their motorcycles so they don't sit around drinking tea in their knitted cardigans!

When Cora & Haven find their way into the care of the Ravens they are blown away by how kind the club is. For Haven, this is the first time in her life she has ever felt safe. It takes her a while to come out of her shell because being around men makes her nervous, thanks her to controlling, manipulative father, but when she does she is filled with a sense of peace.

'I will keep you safe. I will give you the life you deserve. I promise.'

Dare, President of the Raven Riders, is a bit taken by the beautiful Haven. She is a lot younger than him but they both seem to be at similar places in their lives. He hasn't found a woman that he would ever consider as 'the one' but the longer he spends time with Raven the more he is feeling all tied up in knots. Her beauty and innocence fills him with primal urges he is having trouble reigning in.

'Haven Randall was maddening. Sweet, yet sexy, innocent yet provocative. Beautiful yet seemingly unaware of what she was doing to him.'

Haven finds herself fantasizing about the dark and brooding Dare. He is everything she shouldn't want but at the same time everything she desires. She feels so safe around him and she has never had that before. Dare and Haven find themselves in an attraction so deep that they just can't deny it anymore. The sexual energy between this couple is intense. Nothing is rushed and it is really sweet. I loved the slow build of not just the trust but the beautiful lust.

'Dare's hands stroked her back, his eyes suddenly softer, unshuttered, uncertain. He pulled her closer, until their foreheads touched. "What are you doing to me?" he whispered. "I don't know," she whispered back. "But you're doing it to me, too."

There is an ever present danger lurking in the background which the club is very aware of, Haven's father is looking for her and the need to relocate with Cora is becoming a high priority for everyone involved. Haven does not want to put anyone else in danger by out staying their welcome but she trusts that the Ravens will do right by them. How can she leave a man that she has such an amazing connection with, knowing she can never see him again? How can Dare let the only woman who has ever made him think of a future with go?

'He'd promised Haven safety, a fresh start, a new life away from violence and chaos. And he was going to keep his word. It didn't matter what it cost him - not his money, not is time, not his heart.'

So there you have it, lots of lust, angst, edge of your seat danger, peanut butter cookies and cinnamon rolls <--- Oh yes, there is also baking in this story! I am excited that this is just the beginning of a new series and I am looking forward to more from the Raven Riders.

Ride Hard is anything but your stereotypical MC novel! It’s perfect and filled with hope and love. I doubt I’ll forget the feels this book gave me for a long time.

Ride Hard is the story of Haven Randall, a woman who escaped a life of captivity. She had no idea what was on the other side, but it had to be better than where she was.

On the outside, Dare Kenyon is the classic bad boy. A brooding, tattooed, biker. Inside he has a heart of gold. He’s the president of Raven Riders and their mission is one of honor.

This book was perfect. I was able to read a MC book without falling down the rabbit hole of despair. I don’t think I’d call it light and bright, just different. There are so many feelings when you read this book. Compassion, love, caring, truth and more. That doesn’t mean it’s without wicked hot sex… Ummmmm, NO! There is plenty of that. Bikers being bikers. But there is just so much more.

Take a chance. Remember there is much more to every group out there. I read the acknowledgements and if I hadn’t seen some news articles, I wouldn’t have understood what Laura Kaye was talking about. Thank you, Laura, for writing this book and giving a voice to this story! ~ Heather, 5 Raven stars

I’ve been really drawn towards biker books lately, so when I saw Ride Hard, I knew I had to read it. Laura Kaye is a new author to me, but with the amount of time the Hard Ink guys were mentioned, I think I’m going to read that series now, too.

Haven has had a hard life because of her father. She finally gets away from him, but she still isn’t free, as he’s looking for her. She ends up with the Ravens, and she hopes they will be able to keep her safe.

Dare is the President of the Raven Riders MC. Their club takes in women who have been abused and helps them start a new life somewhere safe. When he sees Haven, he is very intrigued by her and he does whatever he can to keep her safe.

Dare and Haven have an interesting relationship. In fact, this whole book was interesting. It was very different from what I’m used to with biker books; there wasn’t much action or anything too exciting that happened until the end.

I liked this book, but I wasn’t hooked enough to love it. The side characters were a very good edition to the book, however, and I am looking forward to reading Maverick’s story next. ~ Leah, 4 stars

Ride Hard was the first book in the Raven Riders MC series by Laura Kaye.

Dare was the Raven Riders President. We met him previously in the Hard Ink series. He was fair and always had the best interest of his MC family and justice first.

Haven was running from her past. We met her in the series prequel, Hard As Steel. She had been a hostage but had been rescued by the MC and was hiding amongst them until she could be completely free and safe.

Haven was shy and extremely cautious of others, especially men. Kaye took us through Haven’s emotions and the struggle of getting used to the MC. Dare and Haven were attracted from the start; although their development was a slow progression as Haven was exploring new experiences.

Ride Hard was a journey of justice, protection and new beginnings with a suspenseful vibe. It was well written, well developed and a great start to the series. Maverick, Dare’s cousin, is up next in Ride Rough and I can’t wait!

I don’t read MC romances that often, which is a shame because I enjoy them so much! There’s always something so gritty and addicting about MC reads, and that description can definitely apply to Laura Kaye’s Hard Ride. It’s the first book in a brand new series, featuring the Raven Riders MC, a club dedicated to helping those who can’t protect themselves. It’s a suspenseful, sexy read that gripped me – it’s a little slow at times, but otherwise, this is a solid first installment to the Raven Riders series.

After escaping from her father’s abusive control, Haven and her best friend Cora have taken shelter with the Raven Riders. Unfortunately, her father is still out to get her, posting a large bounty for finding Haven and bringing her back to him. Haven has lived a very sheltered life, so all these tough bikers, regardless of how they would never harm her, are a little intimidating. But one man makes her feel different and fires her up like no other. Dare makes her feel safe, protected, and wanted. She’s had very little experiences in life, but with Dare, she finds that she wants to experience all of life… with him.

Dare is the president of the Raven Riders, a responsibility he doesn’t take lightly. He’s vowed to make his club legitimate, but that doesn’t mean that he and his men aren’t deadly. He’s alpha, honorable, loyal, and intense, and he’ll do anything for those under his protection. Sweet and innocent Haven brings out his protective instincts even more, and even though he shouldn’t get involved with her, he can’t help but want her. And soon enough, as his feelings for her deepen, he’ll have to do whatever it takes to make sure her father never harms her again.

“Oh, Haven,” he said, “you have no idea what I’d be willing to do for you if you wanted me to.”

Ride Hard was surprisingly sweet, with all the tender moments between Dare and Haven. But even with all the sweet moments, this book is hot too, so if you love steamy romances, you should definitely check it out. I really enjoyed this one – I didn’t completely love it, since I didn’t connect that well with the main characters, and the story moved too slowly at times, but I still had so much fun reading this story. If you love slow burn, suspenseful MC romances, I recommend Ride Hard!

5 Dare and Haven Stars
This is an MC read that will grab your heart. Dare is the epitome of the dark, brooding, quiet MC President. He protects his men, family and his heart. Having previously lost his Mother and brother he never wants to go through that again so he keeps his heart out of any liaisons. And although there have been a number of liaisons, he is 37 after all, he never comes across as a player. The MC help victims of abuse and occasionally relocate people. Haven and Cora are two girls that end up at The Raven's clubhouse needing help with new lives but what happens when the old life just will not let you go? Dare needs Haven safe but that means sending her far away. And these two
are starting to realise they may each be what the other needs.
This was a beautifully written book with some excellent twists and turns. I wished I had read the Hard Ink series because characters from that are in this book. I don't think that's essential though as the story flows effortlessly even without that prior reading. Dare and Haven are perfect together despite their 15yr age gap. As a hero Dare is deep, sweet, strong and quietly protective and very loyal. I loved watching Haven grow into a confident and strong young woman and also seeing her fall head over heels in love with Dare.
HEA? Kind of. More a HFN I would say. We will hopefully see more of them in the next book about Maverick and Alexa. I hope Cora gets a book, especially if it's with Phoenix. Talk about underlying sexual tension...
Recommend over 18's only due to sexual content....
Dare is one HOT dirty talking alpha. Definitely a still waters run deep kind of guy. Yummy.

Solid 4 "Living Free" Stars!!

I've been waiting for this story for a while and Laura Kaye never disappoints me. I do have to admit it started off kind of slow. I didn't really start to get vested in the story until about the 30% mark. At that point the story started to take off for me and it was fast paste from there. This book is very low on the Motorcycle Club wtfery scale. In fact The Raven Riders are a band of brothers dedicated to helping those that can't help themselves. They try very hard to stay clear of illegal drugs, guns, and women. Though they are no choir boys. I can see this series setting up to be similar to the HARD INK series and yes, all the HARD INK guys make an appearance. YAY!

Dare is a super sweetheart and Haven certainly was too. They were clearly good for each other as they were both dealing with issues from their past. Haven's very resent past. It was nice to see Haven blossom into the woman she was always ment to be when given the opportunity to live safe and free. The question was will Haven's past keep her from living and loving in her present and future?

This was a very good start to a new series. There are a lot of guys and girls just waiting to find their HEA. I can't wait to read them all. Happy reading!

SPOILERS.

This was an okay read, both H and h are likeable.

I do prefer that the H be a bit more protective and possessive, and although you could definitely tell H loved h he was willing to send her away because her father was looking for her. She only stayed at the end because she shot her father after he shot the H. I would have liked to see him fight for her to stay but sadly didn't see that.

Also, this book is pricey, maybe I was on high because it was pay day LOL but I wouldn't pay $9.99 for this book.

The next book seems to be of Maverick and his ex, who left him to be with another man. GROSSS!! there was a bit of a review of their story and it seemed like she was happy-ish with her situation, although her current man seemed abusive, but living well mattered more. I don't know much about the story but it would make me wonder if her current man wasn't abusive would she even think about Maverick? I think the next would be a pass for me.

Obsessed! Laura Kaye has me loving Ride Hard, the first installment in her new series The Raven Riders. I practically devoured this book in one sitting. It was gritty, beautiful, sexy, raw and emotional. This book hits you hard as readers are submersed with layers of romance, suspense, and second chances.

Right off the opening pages, I was lost in the world of bikers and a young heroine discovering and finding her second chance at life. Haven Randall and her best friend, Cora ran away to escape from Haven’s monster of a father and found temporary shelter with the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club.

#RideHard

Haven has lived a very sheltered life never experiencing anything in her 23 years. Her father has kept her prisoner and has plans for her to be in arranged marriage to further his crime dealings. Haven has been nothing but just a pawn until she finally decided to run away. But her freedom comes at a cost since there is a big reward for her return and so every gang is in hot pursuits in finding Haven and Cora.

Dare Kenyon has three things he loves and cherish. His club. His brothers. His family. As president of the Raven Riders MC, Dare makes its his mission to make his club different from other MCs. His club protects people who are in need of help. And so when his club takes in Haven and Cora, Dare never expected to fall for Haven. And soon, he is seeking safety, comfort and love with Haven.

photo 9558eae29d24f12123fc023a35f176_zpsidswr4xi.gif “Haven Randall was maddening. Sweet yet sexy. Innocent yet provocative. Beautiful yet seemingly unaware of what she was doing to him.”

When Haven makes a list of things that she wishes to experiences, she never expected Dare to help her. As Dare and Haven begin to spend more time together, Dare finds it hard to resist Haven. Her beauty, innocence, and caring nature attracts Dare in more ways that he could imagine. And when they finally began to embark on a deep and meaningful relationship, how far will Dare go to protect Haven? Is he willing to kill for her? Can Haven finally live the life that she wants with Dare by her side or will her father destroy that dream?

This book had it all to keep any MC romance fans entertained. It had grit, steam, suspense, raw characters and one beautiful love story that unfolded. Dare and Haven were written in such a raw manner that Ms. Kaye allowed readers to feel the hurt, the loss, the love, the hope and the strong gravitational pull they have for one another. So if you are looking for a book that was layered with everything you could want in an MC book, then this book is for you. I seriously can’t wait for the next book and future books of this series as we were introduced to one exceptional cast of characters.

Ride Hard (Raven Riders # 1) by Laura Kay ~ 4.5 Stars

“A shy and distrustful woman running from a controlling ex-fiancé seeks shelter with an outlaw motorcycle club with a tradition of protecting those who can't defend themselves, and falls under the watchful eye of the club's mysterious and intense leader who's intent on discovering all her secrets
The past never dies without a fight, but Dare Kenyon’s never backed down before . .”

WHOA!!! I finished this baby in one sitting. Very different genre than what I read of Laura Kaye’s books in the past! Loved it! Motorcycle ALPHA hero and younger abused broken heroine. Very INTENSE plot with some incredibly SEXY main characters as well as interesting secondary characters.

I fell in love with Laura’s writing in Hearts in Darkness and Love in the Light so when I had a chance to read Ride Hard I jumped in with both feet. Let’s just say Laura Kaye does not disappoint. I was surprised by the genre of this book – a bit darker subject matter. I am always in awe of authors who can write all kind of different genres – Laura is one of them. It’s her amazing talent in writing that sucks me into the story.

“You own my hear and you always will, because you taught me what love was and you showed me what life could be.”

Haven ran away from her abusive father but got herself into trouble with another gangs group. Luckily, she escaped death and was rescued by the Raven. The Raven provides food, shelter, and a new identity for Haven and her best friend Cora. Haven is scared from years of abuse so she is weary of strangers. It’s difficult to break down her wall. Deep down Haven wants desparately to belong to someone. Dare is the president of the group. He is a sexy, tattooed, don’t mess with me kind of guy but his bark is bigger than his bite. Dare has a dark painful past which makes it hard for him to get attached to anyone, much less someone he loves. But staying away from the sweet, innocent, pale skinned, beautiful long haired Haven proves hard to do. To Dare, Haven is beautiful, sweet yet sexy and provocative. As much as Dare resists – the chemistry between Dare and Haven is undeniable. The author did an amazing job with the attraction between the two – very gritty and sensual. Dare is extremely ALPHA, moody, hard-edged but very protective of what he thinks is his. He is a good, caring, big softy at heart. His mission is to help Haven and her friend. Gah!!!! I can swoon over this hero!

“Fears developed in your most formative years died hard, slow deaths.”

The story gets more intense though. Haven’s father is out looking for her so you know something is going to go down – I was on the edge of my seat the whole time waiting for the sh*t to hit the fan. MC romance typically is not my favorite but I really LOVE this story – the hero is a really sweet guy – I mean besides rescuing Haven, Dare was helping Haven fulfill her bucket list. Totally endearing right? … What else do I need after that? I like that their romance is slow and innocent at first before it gets a whole lot sexier towards the end. I also enjoyed the character Cora – she seems like a very strong person, loyal, and a good friend. I am excited to see what happens next in Ride Rough.

“One day, one night, on ride at a time.”

So if you are looking for MC, alpha male, broken heroine, sweet and sexy romance with a touch of nerve-wracking intense story of survival this is the book for you. I loved it and I recommended it.

description
In this offshoot from the Hard Ink series, The Raven Riders are an MC whose motto is Ride, Fight, Defend. That’s pretty much all you need to know - they aren’t your one percenters and in fact actively try to be anything but. While biker books are usually on the grittier side of romances, the Raven Riders are kinder, gentler folk. They definitely fall in the 1-2 (for some violence) on the WTFery scale, so it’s completely safe for my fluffy bunny friends.

Dare, the Club President, grew up in that one percenter life since his dad was a violent SOB and he wanted no part of it. He and his band of biker brothers live to ride and live to take care of people ...just like Haven and her friend Cora.

As the story begins, Haven and Cora are on the run from their abusive fathers, when they are rescued from a biker gang that is dismantled by the Hard Ink crew and the Raven Riders. Haven and Cora don’t know who to trust but they are doing all they can to survive and thrive.

Now, Dare and Haven have unusual names, but their romance is a fairy tale standard - a hero who lives to protect, and a damsel who wants to belong to someone. There’s a hint of taboo with Dare being 15 years older than Haven, but it’s not a major distraction and just adds a bit of heat to the romance.

I do enjoy the connection with the Laura Kaye’s Hard Ink series, but it is not necessary to read that in order to enjoy this tale, which is helpful. I thought there was enough backstory given to enjoy the relationships between the two series without making Hard Ink required reading.

There are no big surprises in this tale, but there is heat between Dare and Haven. The action picks up late in the game but the emotional connection between Dare and Haven was strong enough that I enjoyed my time with them.

I enjoyed it. It’s a kinder, gentler MC romance with some danger but you always feel safe with the Raven Riders. Dare and Haven felt like a biker fairy tale and if that’s your gig, I think you’ll like it.

The Raven Riders aren't quite your average Motorcycle Club, yes they're prepared to cross lines when they need to but they definitely have boundaries and they use most of their money they earn to help protect people. Dare, like most of the MC members, has seen first hand the effect abuse can have on a family and he will do anything to protect the people who turn to him for assistance. The Ravens often rescue women and children from bad situations and get them the new identities and money they need to start over someplace new so they were in the perfect position to help Haven and Cora when they were rescued from the Church gang by the Hard Ink team.

The women were already on the run from Haven's mob boss father when they were captured by the gang and there is a huge reward out for anyone who brings them home so they understandably have no idea who to trust. Haven has led a very sheltered life thanks to her father's overprotectiveness and she's pretty timid and nervy in the beginning. She's wary of being surrounded by so many men and worries about the price she might be asked to pay for their protection but it doesn't take long for Dare and his men to prove that they'd never hurt her or her best friend. I have to admit I was worried that Haven was a little too naive and innocent when she was first introduced but as you get to know her you quickly realise that she has a core of steel. I loved seeing her grow in confidence as she got to know the Ravens and the ending was absolutely brilliant (although I refuse to say why because of spoilers!).

Fans of the Hard Ink series will be familiar with Dare and a few of the other Ravens but it was great to see more of the group and I'm looking forward to spending more time with them. Dare is a brilliant character, someone who is very strong and protective and also surprisingly sweet when he wanted to be. He could be a bit arrogant at times but he was able to man up and apologise when he made a mistake so it was easy to forgive him in the long run. Dare lived through hell as a child and will do whatever it takes to stop others from experiencing the same thing. It broke my heart seeing the way he blamed himself for something that had been completely out of his control but I loved the way Haven broke through his barriers and made him look at things differently. They fit together surprisingly well considering the difference in their ages and world experience but they took the time to really get to know each other so I was totally on board for their relationship.

We've been given hints at a couple of potential future couples and I'm honestly not sure which one I'm more excited about. Cora is going to have a difficult time of it if she sets her sights on the player she seems to be interested in but I think I'm even more curious to see whether Maverick can finally convince Alexa that he's the right man for her. If you loved the Hard Ink series then you're sure to enjoy the Raven Riders just as much and you can keep your eye out for appearances from some of your favourite Special Forces members along the way! If you've not read anything by Laura Kaye before then this wouldn't be a bad place to start but I pretty much guarantee that you'll want to go back to the other series while you're waiting for Ride Rough to release!

RIDE HARD starts off the new RAVEN RIDERS series and features the badass bikers we met in the HARD INK series. I don't read too many motorcycle club romances but I'd read anything Laura Kaye writes and I was not disappointed. Kaye's storytelling, voice, and pacing are always spot on and the intensity she creates in her characters and between love interests is always great. But be prepared, as anyone who has read her other books before knows, she makes you have all the feels.

I loved watching Haven find who she was after escaping her abusive and oppressive father. Her compassion, gentle heart, and openness all make her a great FMC and I enjoyed how she slowly came out of her shell and became more comfortable expressing her wants, making friends, and being involved in the club's activities. She trusts Dare right away and there's definitely some insta-lust and insta-love going on but after everything Haven has been through she deserves to find love the easy way.

Dare is the complete opposite of Haven, he's hard, jaded, and keeps strangers at a distance but from the moment he first sees Haven's he's enraptured. I loved Dare's loyalty to his men and how dedicated he was to making the Raven Riders a safe place for those in need. Like Haven, Dare knows what it means to grow up in a bad environment and he does everything he can to make sure Haven feels safe and respected. Together they made a great match that balanced each other and brought out the best in each other.

This was an emotional, sexy, and intense read and a great series starter that introduced all kinds of side characters I can't wait to read about!
