A large crowd for Reggae Sunday at the Conch House Marina turned into a somewhat unruly one, according to law enforcement and eyewitness video.

Several fights broke out at the popular waterfront restaurant and bar Sunday, and at least one person was hospitalized.

St. Augustine Police responded but did not make any arrests, SAPD spokesman Mark Samson said. He added that the SAPD is continuing to investigate.

"One fight started it, and several fights were going on at one time," Samson said in an email to The Record.

Both Samson and St. Johns County Fire Rescue spokesman Jeremy Robshaw said several people were evaluated by first responders Sunday afternoon. Just one person was taken for medical treatment - first to Flagler Hospital and then to UF Health Jacksonville. Robshaw said the patient was stable.

In a video posted on Facebook, several people can be seen getting knocked down and bloodied. Several members of the Conch House security staff are seen pushing patrons away from the crowd (presumably toward the exit). Some security personnel are also seen throwing punches, but the video doesn't show what provoked any of the violence.

There have been problems with violence in the past at the Conch House. In fact, former security worker Kasim Howard has an active civil suit against former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew for an incident in which Howard was injured while restraining a patron.
