We now have the first new http://clatl.com/atlanta/is-og-maco-the-next-odb/Content?oid=12915749OG Maco release of 2015. The Quality Control MC released his EP, 15, seemingly out of nowhere. Prefaced with a message “They say I had 15 ...,” the 11-track project is the same in-your-face, unrelenting lyrical acrobatics we’ve come to expect from the kid some thought would be a one-hit wonder. Hence, the aforementioned saying and corresponding EP title.

Well, “U Guessed It” be damned! Rather than wasting bars and exceptional production (Duckomcfli, Sledgren, TM88, Twan On the Beat) addressing the chip on his shoulder, OGG sounds even more comfortable in his own skin. With cuts such as the Miguel Brucker-produced title track, OG Maco still aligns himself as the unabashed kid with something to prove. But on the more laid-back, airy, “Night Like This,” the signature snarl gives away to a whispery cadence and Kid Cudi-esque singing that shows a young artist willing to veer into any musical lane. Fifteen minutes and a year later, OG Maco’s still going hard. Check out the stream for 15 below.
