Making a solargraph after exposing

Solargraphy by John J. Brown. Processing by Tarja Trygg.
Prosessing from the negative to the positive.

No chemicals are needed in making a solargraph. Solargraphs diverge from a conventional pinhole photograph: the exposure times are much longer than we are used to do. The short exposure time of the latent photograph in pinhole photogaphy will be visible as normal in developing it. But in solargraphy after a long exposure all the tracks of the Sun are already visible on the emulsion. Although there is a piece of black and white photosensitive paper inside the pinhole camera the result will be in colour.

The overexposured paper negative will be scanned in a dim room and the negative will be inverted on a computer.

Chance: There are many factors that have an effect on the final result: the size of the pinhole, the different photosensitive materials, stability of the can during the exposure, temperature of the climate, weather, sun, compass points, scanning, my skills of image making...

Quality of the result: In this project the can assistants need not to feel sorry if the result is not very good because all failures are mine. I have sole responsibility for the project, the cans and the quality of the solargraphs. Beforehand you never know what the result will be.
