Aimed at drivers that want to control certain settings or lock/unlock their cars directly from their wrist, the updated On Call app is now compatible with wearables such as the Apple Watch and Android Wear.

In fact, Volvo On Call not only includes wearable connectivity for wearable devices such as the Apple Watch and Android Wear, but it also features a full iPad user interface and a unified Windows Phone app with voice control through Cortana – which has proven superior to Siri in quite a lot of reviews.

The update will be released in June and it will also provide enhanced ‘send-to-car’ capabilities for navigation purposes.

Volvo Cars Director of Connected Products, David Holecek explained that “Volvo On Call is an app that allows you to literally take control over everyday elements in your Volvo. You can set heater timings for those cold and frosty mornings or cool down your car in hot weather, check your fuel level and mileage, or time to next service. It even helps you to locate your car in a crowded parking garage.”

Further more, the app now has a brand new designed based on Volvo’s celebrated Sensus driver interface which debuted in the all-new XC90.

Volvo On Call is now available in no fewer than 21 markets with around 230,000 active subscribers worldwide. In the past 12 months alone, Volvo has recorded around 8 million instances when the remote heater started had been used – which is a very cool statistic.

The app is currently standard in Brazil, the U.S and Canada, and an option for all other markets where available. According to Volvo, their largest option markets are Sweden and China.
