Gauteng-based The Innovation Hub has announced applications are open for this year’s Gauteng Accelerator Programme (GAP), offering startups in four categories access to more than ZAR3 million (US$250,000) in funding as well as incubation services.

GAP is in line with Gauteng’s Innovation Strategy, with the awards honouring innovators, researchers and entrepreneurs for exemplary work in the ICT, green, medical and biosciences sector.

“The Innovation Hub is running four high profile innovation competitions for Gauteng-based researchers and entrepreneurs with plans to be global leaders in the Green, Medical, ICT, and Biotech sectors,” The Innovation Hub said.

“Prizes for all winners include incubation services from The Innovation Hub’s Maxum Business Incubator and mLab. In addition, prize winners receive a cash award and seed funding.”

In the ICT category, first place will win ZAR190,000 (US$16,000) in cash prizes and seed funding, while three other solutions will walk away with lesser amounts. The winners of the medical category will win ZAR200,000 (US$17,000), while winners in the green and biosciences categories will win ZAR240,000 (US$20,000) and ZAR500,000 (US$42,000) respectively.

Applications are now open online for all four categories.

Sad its not available for Cape Town Green Innovator’s.
It would really help to see more national participants, in this cash offer and incubation to achieving these incentives.
