Joseph A. Pellegrino, 77; U.S. Army Veteran; General Contractor in Greenwich

Calling hours will be held Sunday, March 15 with the funeral scheduled for Monday, March 16.

Joseph A. Pellegrino, age 77 of Stamford, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed peacefully on March 9, 2015 while in Florida.

He was born in Greenwich on January 12, 1938 to Antonio and Mary (Barone) Pellegrino. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Jerry Pellegrino.

Joe grew up in Cos Cob, attended Greenwich High School, and after graduating in 1955 joined the US Army. He came home from the military in 1959 and began work as a mason before becoming a successful general contractor building homes and condominiums in Greenwich.

Joe had many interests and sources of enjoyment. He loved all sports, but baseball and the Yankees were his favorite. As a young man he enjoyed playing golf and softball. He was always ready to discuss stocks or debate politics. He loved his annual trips to Florida and Saratoga, New York to spend time with friends and go to the racetrack. Above all, he cherished time spent with family and friends.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lorraine (Jacques) Pellegrino; his children, Cheryl Pellegrino Malkiewicz and husband Steve of Stamford, CT, Joseph Pellegrino and wife Karen of Sudbury, MA, and Renee Pellegrino Lucarelli and husband Robert of Westport, CT; and his five grandchildren Nicole Pellegrino, Jack Malkiewicz, Rachel Pellegrino, Sam Malkiewicz, and Ryan Lucarelli; two brothers, John Pellegrino and wife Gill of England and Anthony Pellegrino of Riverside, CT; in-laws Joan Carvetti Pellegrino of Riverside, CT, Joe Rotondo and Claire Jacques Rotondo of Trumbull, CT; and ten nieces and nephews.

Family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 4:00PM-8:00PM at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 11:00AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside, Avenue, Riverside, CT. A private burial will be held at a later date this spring.
