Mindy fans, rejoice.
After Fox canceled The Mindy Project on May 6, Hulu announced today it has struck a deal to bring the fourth season of the romantic comedy to its streaming site.

The season will total 26 episodes, but a premiere date has not been announced yet. Hulu has also not said if episodes will be released on a schedule or available all at once.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Universal Television, the studio behind The Mindy Project, began discussions with Hulu immediately after Fox canceled the show. Hulu already owns the exclusive rights to stream the show’s first three seasons on demand as part of a subscription, and The Mindy Project is one of the most popular scripted shows on the service. “Mindy has been a beloved member of the Hulu family, so this deal is a natural extension of our relationship,” Craig Erwich, senior vice president and head of content for Hulu, said in a statement.
Mindy Kaling, who stars the show, said in a statement that she was “thrilled The Mindy Project has found a new home on Hulu, where so many of our fans are already watching the show.”
The Mindy Project is the latest example of network TV shows that are moving online. Citing sluggish ratings, NBC and Fox had canned cult favorites Community and Arrested Development, respectively, before the shows landed on Yahoo and Netflix. With streaming companies investing in original content, it’s no longer just the networks that dictate what people are watching today.
Because networks make their money primarily from ad revenue, they focus on shows with the highest ratings. Hulu, however, makes money from ads and subscriptions, and the hope is that investing in a high-profile show like The Mindy Project will drive more people to subscribe to its paid service.
