Netflix will premiere the six-episode second season of BBC drama series “The Fall” starring Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan on Jan. 16, 2015, although not in all territories at first.
The show, through a pact with Endemol, will be available exclusively on Netflix in the U.S. and Latin America starting in January. Netflix said “The Fall” season two will be coming to Canada and Europe at a later date. The first season of “The Fall” is currently available on Netflix’s streaming service.
In season two of “The Fall” — set in Belfast, Northern Ireland — Anderson (“Hannibal,” “The X-Files”) returns as Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson, who is on the trail of serial murderer Paul Spector, played by Dornan (“Fifty Shades of Grey,” “Once Upon a Time”). The series is written and directed by Allan Cubitt (“The Boys Are Back,” “Murphy’s Law,” “Prime Suspect 2”).
The first season of the show was BBC Two’s highest-rated drama series in 10 years. “The Fall” is produced by Gub Neal and Julian Stevens and executive produced by Allan Cubitt, Justin Thompson- Glover, Patrick Irwin and Gillian Anderson. The series a Fables Production in association with Artists Studios for the BBC, with support from Northern Ireland Screen.
