British comedian James Corden has lost an impressive six stone by following a strict eating regime.

The 36-year-old told the Daily Mirror that his new figure is down to his new understanding of healthy eating.

He told the newspaper: "I've cut out sugar and bread, and eat only eat at mealtimes now.

"I didn't realise before that it wasn't OK to constantly graze all day, that this wasn't a thing and that it was frowned upon."

James Corden s called the tubby kid by David Letterman ahead of his US talk show debut

But it's not just his diet that he has been working on.

James, who now weighs 15 stone, has also hired a personal fitness coach to whip him into shape.

He added: "I also have a trainer who comes round to my house three mornings a week."

The Gavin & Stacey star has recently relocated with his wife Julia and two children Max and Carey to Los Angeles to host The Late, Late Show.

James says he wanted to look the part and being unhealthy and overweight didn't fit into that.

The TV personality admits he is a "nobody" in America and is doing everything he can to gain fans across the pond.

The first episode of the talk show will air on March 23.
