Tribeca Film Fest to release streaming service

Tribeca Film Festival’s over-the-top streaming service created with Lionsgate is coming by the end of the year, says the festival’s co-founder Jane Rosenthal.

Rosenthal and partner Robert De Niro appeared at a kick-off event at downtown restaurant Thalassa. The producer of movies such as “Meet the Parents” and “Analyze This” told On the Money that the service, called Tribeca Short List, will be a curated resource for “people asking themselves, ‘What should I see?’ ”

The co-founders have plenty to say about the lack of city support for the fest. Mayor de Blasio skipped the opening-night bash.

On the Money asked Rosenthal what she’d most like to see change for filmmakers working in New York City. “I’m working on a pilot for CBS. There’s just not enough studio space,” she said, but

Rosenthal didn’t want to pick any more fights.

“Cynthia is terrific,” said Rosenthal referring to city media czar Cynthia Lopez. “It’s too soon to look at what the new administration is doing versus the 12 years of the prior administration.”
