Bible Verses for Hurt, Broken, and Discouraged Lives – God Has a Plan

Have you ever been so tired, worn out, broken down, frustrated, stressed out, hopeless and discouraged that you feel like you can’t even make it through the day and dread facing tomorrow? Do you feel like you are completely spent, totally done?

Sometimes in life it seems that the only experiences that we are having are all bad ones. There are times that it seems that today is worse than yesterday, and we are in fear of what tomorrow will bring. Life seems to be one disaster after another, and we seem to be going from crisis to crisis. There are times when life drains all the energy from us and we find ourselves wiped out from the stress we are dealing with on a daily basis.

Jeremiah felt that way when he cried out in Lamentations 3:49-51 – The tears stream from my eyes, an artesian well of tears, until You, God, look down from on high. You look and see my tears. You listened when I called out, ‘Don’t shut your ears! Get me out of here! Save me! You came close when I called out. You said, ‘It’s going to be all right.’ “You took my side, Master – You brought me back to life!

God wants to show kindness out of his great store of love. He does not enjoy it when His people suffer. When we are sorry, we go back to God. He is there for us. So let God work his will in you. Resist Satan in your life with a loud resounding “no”, and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and He’ll be there for you right away. We must quit dabbling in sin, and purify our inner life in Christ Jesus. Find resolve and quit being ruled by fear and doubt. Get to the bottom of the distractions in your life and take them to God. On your knees to God, like Jeremiah – cry your eyes out.  Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.

All of us seem to grow fearful and anxious as we wait for things to get better. A lot of times because of the stress of situations, we rush through life without stopping to check where we are going, or what we are doing. Part of the process of God’s wondrous ability to bless our lives is you and I taking the time to slow down petition the throne of Grace and listen for His voice. As we slow down and wait on Him, we will be reminded of our complete and utter dependence on His strength. When we take the time to stop, pray; slow down and wait on Him – He will bring the resolution to our problems as and reveal His plan for our lives.

In Lamentations the 3rd chapter we read that nothing can happen unless the Lord has allowed it. It is the great God who allows both good things and bad things to happen.

Lamentations teaches us that we should think carefully about how we behave. And we should always turn to the Lord. We are instructed to raise our hands and pray to God in heaven. We should lift our head, soul, eyes, and voice to Him in prayer. Our hearts and mind must agree with the words of our prayers. We must mean what we say.

Jeremiah prayed until streams of tears came from his eyes. He did not stop or even rest, he would not stop until the Lord looked down upon him. Jeremiah decreed, “I will cry unto God until he sees from heaven”. Jeremiah was praying not only for himself, but for his family and friends and the people in his city. Jeremiah declared before God” What my eye sees upsets my heart, and I am upset because of what happened to all the people in my city”. If we love God’s people as we should, their troubles will make us really sad, and we will petition before God on their behalf.

How did God respond to Jeremiah’s prayers? God drew near to him, and comforted him with the words – do not fear. In your daily life would the words from God saying “do not fear” mean anything to you? Regarding your finances if God said “don’t sweat it, I got you covered”; what would that mean to you? Regarding your marriage, if God said, “don’t worry, you will always be together, and happy; would you be comforted? You should be and you will.

We must apply ourselves in prayer to our God. We will realize and stand assured that He is the Master of all and will turn our helplessness unto the Hope of Hopes, our mourning unto His Mercies, our cries unto His Compassion, our failings unto His Faithfulness, and our grief toward His Goodness.

Jesus carried the sins of the world on His shoulder, and laid down his life for us that He may bear our sorrows, carry our burdens and renew our strength. He is never overwhelmed or inadequate to supply our needs.

Let your heart shout with joy in our wondrous God. It is only God who can make all our failures regenerative. He will raise you up – just as He himself rose from the grave. It is He who is God of risings again, and it is He who wants to give you a fresh start. We stand assured in Christ Jesus, serving a God of genesis and re-genesis. He takes all your life’s pain and sorrow, and bears them in His blood, leaving them dead and decomposing.  God will refresh your world with spiritual dew, and He will hydrate your broken, shattered heart with his renewing spirit. He will lift you up, restore you and bring you back to life.

John 10:10 Jesus said -I have come that you might have life. My purpose is to give you a rich, happy and satisfying life.

  8. Hi Darrell,

You know, its encouraging to see a person who has been touched by God like you have. It, and you, give me hope. As I related to you in another forum, I spent a good part of my life seeking pleasure all the while claiming my faith. Well, that hypocrisy, I guess, had to be dealt with. So, seven years ago when I made a real commitment to Jesus and began to change my ways, the wheels came off of my life. I have lost my money, my health, and have had a tough time building a relationship with my daughters. So, I have lost almost everything, and seven years of hell is a long time. I still have a vision in my mind of keeping a hold of Jesus’ robe no matter what. I haven’t let go. My hope is that things will change soon because I am a bit tired and often discouraged. So, last Friday I had a dream – a very clear one. It was Jesus coming to me and he was holding something. It was V-shaped and multi-colored – beautiful. I don’t know what it was, but I have a sense it is linked to my future. I’ll keep you posted.
