Nihon Falcom announced today that the Steam version of Ys Origin has sold more than 200,000 copies since its release.
As anyone involved in the remakes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Wicker Man or The Karate Kid will tell you, bringing back a cult classic can be a dangerous game, but French studio Dotemu has made it its mission to revive beloved retro titles. It's next project is a reboot of 2006 Japanese RPG Ys Origin, bringing the project to Xbox for the first time.

I played Y's I&II on Turbo Grafx long before there was even a PlayStation 1. It was the most open world action RPG at the time. When most JRPG's were turn bases, this guy was a real time arch mage, where you got more and more powerful as you went deeper into the game. When you returned to previous towns, some were completely destroyed or improved, and the previous difficult enemies were now weak pest.
I think that game is the father of modern day WRPG's.

I got this due to Memories of Celeta, and I am about to start it today. New to YS as a whole, but likin it so far.

YS os one of my favorite traditional JRPG out there. Happy to see game is doing well on Steam.
I have all YS releases on PSP. But my PSP don't read UMD's anymore. Hope they all got ported to Vita.
